Every time I try to enter the chat room, something comes up saying "operation timed out: due to invalid address" or something like that. Will someone please tell me what this means and what is the problem?

It means that something is keeping your computer from connecting to irc.worldirc.org port 6667
This could be a problem on your computer, or it could be something with your network. If you're connecting from school or work, many networks block port 6667 since its used for IRC, which they may feel is a non-productive endeavour. Try to see if you can use this webchat client: http://www.worldirc.org/webchat.php You can also try this one: http://irc.scoutlink.net/ If you get the same error on all three, "operation timed out: due to invalid address", it means that your network is blocking your access to port 6667. If you get diffferent errors on the other two, or if one or both of them work, let us know and we'll look into other possibilities. |
