i would've never taken Chiaki Kuriyama for a singer. is she trying to brush off her evil persona?

Since when has not being a decent singer ever kept anyone from singing a Gundam theme?

I know I'm gettin myself ahead of the actual facts, but I'm not looking forward at the least for this song, in fact, between this and the last opening of gundam 00 I'm starting to miss classic songs like Ai Senshi, Eternal Wind or Beyond the Time...or not so classic ones like the two opening songs from Gundam X (they were fine for what they were).
It doesn't help that this is actually an U.C. Series and that, to tell you the truth, I don't like this actress at all (I never quite understood how she was chosen for Kill Bill). Guess my main problem resides in this last sentence.

Since never as a result of Gundam series usually have really good music vocal or not.
Also I've heard the Kuriyama song in the latest trailer and it's actually pretty good and sounds very much like a proper U.C Gundam theme which made me skeptical that it was actually the Kill Bill actress when it was first announced since this is apparently her debut as a singer. Of course that won't stop some people from immediately and prematurely brushing it off for a number of dumb reasons.

My aren't we generalizing something fierce here....or at least not being very clear with what we mean. And yet we seem to expect others to take us at all seriously. I guess all of that background music that uses an orchestra or works with classical instruments is at the cutting edge of the whole pop scene eh?
Now of course if we're just talking about the vocal themes then I guess....kind of....if you really want to generalize them all based on a few you might have heard. However the franchise has a lot of ballads as well and has featured a variety of musical styles in it's vocal tracks since it all got started that's kind of evolved with the times. I agree that some of the more well known gundam series like Zeta, Wing, Seed and 00 had some pretty poppy tracks for about three quarters of their vocal anthems, but I think the quality and style also varies between them and that they are at least tolerable or even really catchy when it comes to my tastes. Take Star Children for example like Penguin Truth mentioned, which sounds way more like a soul song then anything pop.

Actually I have got every major song from pretty much all of the original series' while I was in Japan, and have at least two songs from pretty much every other Gundam show. And there are a lot good songs but it's still not what I'd call world-beating music as a whole.
