Currently, anyone of any age can purchase Champion RED Ichigo in Japan.

That would probably be why he was told to cut back on the erotic content.

Except that the magazine has been running CRAZY erotic content for years now. It's just weird to start cutting back now after all this time. Seriously, check out any Champion Red title & you'll wonder how they get away with selling this stuff to kids.

I have a copy of Champion Red Ichigo that I got because it had a Komatsu E-ji cover. Would not buy again - and it didn't even have anything from CO2A inside! I assume "age restricted" magazines are the ones that come up on Amazon as unable to shop outside Japan like Comic LO (still surprised that is even carried by Amazon).

comic LO isn't coming up in a search for me so I guess you don't have to be surprised anymore.

You may stay surprised Mr. Shiroi Hane because it's still very much available through Amazon. Search a little more Kougeru, although one still won't be able to ship it outside of Japan, at least not directly though Amazon.

Well, that would be weird then. And, on the surface at least, it would seem unreasonably to suddenly restrict the mangaka when they weren't before. Maybe the "guys on top" didn't look at it very closely before, but they are now because it's not doing very well because of the recession or whatnot. I have no idea how well it's really doing, but that might explain why they'd be looking more closely now. In any case, it sucks for the mangaka. It's one thing to do a manga without erotic content, but it's something quite different to have it be a key part of the manga (as it sounds like it has been in this case) and then not be able to have it.

My understanding is that the anime market in Japan is targeted more to the otaku market, but manga is more mainstream. Perhaps the execs are trying to take the magazine in a more mainstream direction. Just a guess, but maybe sales figures aren't all that hot for the product "as it has been". Though we were not provided sales information, so this is a total guess on my part...

Am I the only one who finds irony in the "guys on top" telling anyone to tone down erotic content?

So Konohana is worse than Aki Sora?

Cause I saw a bit of the anime, and if the manga is similar then it's pretty dern close to porn.

I woulda have taken the manga else where if I was told this. All age magazine or not, art should shown the way its intended.

I noticed that as well and instantly thought of the chapter of Genshiken where spoiler[Oguie draws a yaoi manga with Sasshara and Madrame.]

Ironic isn't that? But I have to wonder, why start editing now as opposed to when the magazine first started?

I have a few issues of Champion Red myself and he must have had some REAL borderline stuff because as it is this book shows nipples (most magazines that aren't restricted don't) and has erotic content ALL THE TIME.

I've never read any of this guys work, though, so I don't know what the nature of the content would be.

[EDIT: Just read through his blog post and it seems that the stuff they are telling him to edit has been in previous chapters so it's really confusing him (like a urination scene).]
