This would have been a very interesting panel to sit through. With the demise of Central Park Media, are Veronica Taylor, Tom Wayland and Rachael Lillis still doing stuff, or just went there as guests?

Several extras on DVDs have also stated this, and it's always lead me to ask why. How in the world can a VA know the character "cold"? More importantly, why the need to cast given the talent pool of the actors each distributor tends to work with? I mean, how hard would it be to say "Kira, we'd like you to voice this character similarly as you did with Ayumu in Azumanga Daioh." Seriously, it's not as though the library of talent is difficult to find. [/sarcasm] No matter. Just keep on churning out the dub stuff and I'll remain happy. Hear that Sentai Filmworks? Dub, damn it. |

Well Veronica Taylor voices Cosmos in Dissidia Final Fantasy, which is mostly an LA dub, so she is getting some work at the least. No idea on the other 2, you'd probably have to check their ANN pages for recent credits. *edit* And the Japanese VAs get a script a few days before dubbing, that's cool. Why can't they e-mail over a script excerpt to English VAs? It can't be that hard, and it'd let them practice a little. |

Maybe the voice actor doesn't remember how exactly s/he played that role. Or maybe it's not the exact voice/style they need. Ayumu and Chara X are not one and the same, after all.
Practice what, their Japanese? O_o And how would they know which VAs should they mail the scripts, especially if the show is not licensed yet? |

I mean when they're dubbing a show that has been licensed. It's not like they only finish the translations and adaptations the same day they go into the studio to dub. Imagine if Dub VAs got the script for the first episode a few days before they have to go in to dub. It could make for a far smoother voice performance in the show, without the usual "wait 10 episodes while all the VAs get used to the roles". These "only start working on the voice when you get in the booth with the script for the first episode's dubbing" bits aren't easy on the VAs. Just e-mail the script to the VA a couple days before they go in, so they can practice before they hit the booth. It wouldn't hurt at all, just make the VAs sign a contract where they promise not to distribute the script to others. |

I was listening to a clip on how Veronica was talking about the new and old Pokemon voice actors. It's upsetting Rachael has brought back to incidentals on Pokemon but they haven't asked her good friend Veronica to be Ash.

Now that's a susprise.Cause after pokemon season 8,i preety much Taylor along with Dan Green (Yugi Moto) only does kids based series now cause they've done those kids based anime series licensed by 4kids after those series were complete,especially the new yugioh series where the VA as multiple characters on GX and on 5d's Also Green played as some characters in the PUSA version of pokemon diamond & pearl as the Canalave Gym leader Byron so it comes as a susprise cause the last anime series they did that wasn't for all ages was Media Blasters dub version of Samuari Deeper Kyo where ironaclly those 2 were the main characters. |

Amen. I'm not touching Clannad, Indian Summer, Ghost Hound, or Princess Resurrection until Sentai does things CORRECTLY! (Read: Dub their shit!) Ditto much of RightStuf's catalog. No way I'm touching Emma until they give it the dub it rightfully deserves! (That show's set in Victorian England, goddamn it! THEY'RE NOT EVEN SUPPOSED TO BE SPEAKING JAPANESE!) |

It was made in Japan however. Would you refuse to watch, say, "The Boy in the Striped Pyjamas" in English because the characters are supposed to be speaking German? |

I agree, Zalis116. There are other places to rant about that. I saw YouTube videos of the dub actors/actresses today at school. Jamie even brought up Maddie Blaustein.

Rachael Lillis is in Genshiken (she plays Ohno), so that's a little work she gets when Media Blasters does their rare dubs of things (she was also in Rightstuf/Nozomi's Gravitation a few years back), so it seems there is still a bit of a market left for New York anime dubbing. Though, it is true that with CPM out of the picture and the economy being what it is, it must be fewer and farther between for NY VAs. |
