Whoever made these two press releases needs to put a little more effort into personalizing them for the different events.

Quote:
Anime Detroit is dedicated to creating a broader awareness of and appreciation for, Japanese animation by celebrating the richness of this art form. Through cooperation with the community, Anime Detroit hopes to strengthen and facilitate the growth of the anime, manga and related industries in Detroit and beyond. Anime Detroit also seeks to become a vehicle for sharing and disseminating industry information. Anime Detroit also provides the community and related industries the opportunity to network and conduct business. A simple idea in which staffers, fans, guests, vendors and the community work toward a common goal.

Anime Detroit chose Detroit not only due to growing popularity of anime nationwide, but to mainly serve the many regional fans of Japanese animation and comics including the many established organizations that currently exist in high schools, universities/colleges and independently.

I don't see why these events are popping up, either. We already have Youmacon in Detroit around Halloween, and it's a decent con in a previously open time period in the Midwest. Cramming two more events on either side of it in the same area is either stupid or crafty. I've heard rumors that Anime Detroit was created specifically to hurt Youmacon, I wonder if there's something going on here.
