I'm visiting the main page of the site, and every two seconds it seems, the main page is refreshing, or redirecting back to itself.

I primarily used the Kannagi skin, and thinking it might have been the culprit I switched skins, but the same problem came up.

Using Firefox's 'NoScript' addon, I've stopped the refreshes, but doing that disables some of the other features on the site.

Is this something that I can turn off somewhere, or is this a known bug?

Thanks in advance.

I am having the same problem. It seems that it is the advertisment at the top of the page that keeps refreshing every couple of seconds.

I have AdBlock Plus installed but still have the refreshing problem.

Is the page/ad refreshing (ie: loading then re-loading) or is it just taking a long time to finish loading the ad ?

Rommie: When the problem started, did you have ad-block or anything running ?

Dan: What browser are you using, do you have any notable plugins that affect the way webpages display ?

We recently made a change to our ad-server, which is probably the cause for this. But our tests on reifox, IE and Chrome haven't reproduced this problem.

You appear all to to be in the United States. is this correct ?

When this occurs, can you look at the bottom of the page, below "staff openings" and tell me what the "ads by:..." line says (should be something like this: Ads by Gorilla Nation & Reed Business Expo (NYAF/NYCC) ) It might change while the page loads...

When I posted this I was at work where they still have IE6 installed. I will not be back there until Monday night so I will not be able to test it. I am currently at home using Firefox and I am not having the issue. What was happening though was the ad at the top would change every few seconds. It did not seem to be any particular ad that it was having trouble with. It would constantly go from the Eureka Seven ad to the NYAF ad and to all the others that are currently being used on the site. This would happen every two to three seconds.

Every other refresh has:
Ads by Reed Business Expo (NYAF/NYCC)

then it is followed by Funimation, Bandai, etc before refreshing back to Reed Business Expo (NYAF/NYCC).

I have firefox 3.5.2 with AdBlock Plus installed, and am in the US.

I am having a similar problem. The page is refreshing so frequently that if I use the "Back" browser button, I go back to a previous ad display rather than the last forum page I visited. I may have to Back through several ads before reaching the last forum page I visited.

I checked the bottom "Ads by" tempest mentioned. Within a very short span, I saw the following:

Ads by Bandai Entertainment
Ads by Reed Business Expo (NYAF/NYCC)
Ads by AnimeNation
Ads by FUNimation Entertainment
Ads by Eleven Arts

Each one resulted in a new listing in my Back browser button.

OS: Windows Vista
Browser: IE 8.0
Running McAfee SiteAdvisor with pop-ups blocked

While I have been writing this post, there have been so many ads rotating into my Back browser history that I can no longer see a listing for the thread's page at all. Sad

I've stopped loading the page when it starts to refresh on a page so that it won't do it again until I go to another page. At least then you won't have a worthless Back button Wink

I'm having the same problem. The front page is fine, but even with adblock enabled the individual news pages are constantly refreshing.

Same with this page in fact; it's going so fast that in the time it took to type this I have about 30 entries for "post a reply" in my browser history.

I'm using firefox 3 on mac os x.

Yes, I had AdBlockPlus running when the problem started. I had to forbid animenewsnetwork.com on NoScript, and the problem stopped. So it's a script of some kind that causing the problem.

The "ads by" was also rotating, but that could be changing because of the constant refreshing also.

And yes, I'm in the US, and I'm running Firefox 3.5.2

RommieSG, could you do me a favor and try a few pages with Adblockplus and Noscript disabled ?

Based on what others have said,I don't think the problem is related to Adblock at all (it certainly wasn't on some of their machines), but I just want to eliminate it.

Also, can people please try the following two pages and confirm for me that it only happens on the first page.

1: animenewsnetwork.com/?now_testing_banner_id=7779
2: animenewsnetwork.com/?now_testing_banner_id=8780

Thanks

I've not had any problems, probably because I have banner ads disabled, but I am familiar with the problem as it was an issue on the FUNimation forums a long time ago - their banner ad would constantly reload (causing click sounds in IE) and filling up your browser history making the back button useless.

Confirmed. Happened on the first link, and not the second link with both ABP and NS disabled.
