Hello there,
I've recently noticed that about 95% of the anime music I listen to uses entirely real recorded instruments. I love the sound, but as a composer I need a professional sound that I can compare my music to that's actually possible for me. MIDI soundtracks are fine, but also soundtracks with large use of MIDI in them. Bleach for example uses sampled/synthetic strings for it's OST 1 (though later in the series songs like Precipice of Defeat switch to having real instruments). Naruto uses Sampled strings among other instruments (Hero being a cue using entirely MIDI), though Naruto Shippuden doesn't use any MIDI whatsoever. Those are two examples I already know of off of the top of my head. Also, I'm looking for more recent stuff, like 2005+... Thanks for your time. =) |

The Air soundtrack is probably the best entirely synthetic soundtrack I can think of. It's simple, effective, and makes really good use of all its voices.
