Is there a reason the article is called "Column" instead of "The List?"

It's been about a year since I saw Elfen Lied but I've seen it like 6 times and never once remember the name Kaede coming up. Was this something only revealed in the manga?

It's been many years since I saw it, so I'm not sure if it came up in the TV series. It may have only been mentioned in the OVA that was never released in the U.S.

.

Its vaguely hinted in the anime, but only fully revealed in the manga.

I take it Lynzee Lamb hasn't seen Kara no Kyoukai. Good list though.

While we're on the subject of Satoshi Kon, what about agent from Perfect Blue. Living in a fantasy of what Mima was supposed to be and we all know what happened there. I'm surprised that wasn't #1.

What about Shion from Higurashi?
Well, Rika wouldn't count because if you watch the anime or read the manga it's explained why it comes off that way.

How did you miss Grimmer/The Magnificent Steiner when the opening paragraph mentioned the Hulk? Very Happy I'd put him right behind Harumi in terms of somewhat realistic dissociation, maybe even alongside her.

And I'm not so sure about Hansel and Gretel even qualifying, let alone being the top of the list. They switch identities outwardly, but unless I'm remembering wrongly, they never lost their sense of self internally, or rather they felt like they were halves of a single person, sort of the reverse of Zetsu. But it was no more split personality than Johan's "I am you and you are me" attitude toward his sister in Monster (spoiler[including the cross-dressing]).

Heh, only 2 or 3 personalities. Childs play. Now Kozue Aoba from Mahoraba? She's got 5. Though Sayoko is definitely more in need of therapy in that show.

Shion also isn't a split personality. She's aware of what she's doing and who she is. spoiler[She's just batshit insane from the Hinamizawa Syndrome]

Yep, if people want a split personality for Ryuukishi07 work, then they need to look at Umineko, not Higurashi.

8.9% voted for Merle?

That's weird, I thought no-one liked her.

Although not from an anime, I would add Sakubo from .hack//GU. Being apparently a young kid, Sakubo's sister died some time before the series started and developed a female personality that acted like his sister. The problem is that the female personality appears a lot more than the boy. When Sakubo finally matures and the Saku personality decides to disappears, Haseo tells Saku to stay with him. Is that really good?
