It's great to see a company dedicated to rereleasing older classics (well, classic for the early days of anime in NA, at least). I hope they get the license to Goku Midnight Eye so we can finally get it on DVD.

This is great news! Kawajiri doesn't get enough recognition. I wonder if it will have the old CPM dub? And I second that Goku: Midnight Eye would also be great.

Dr Mephisto is incredibly awesome, but I wouldn't call him mythical. That seems to link him to the Faust legend & that's not who we're talking about here. I'm in the middle of Yashikiden 3 & I plan on ordering Demon City Shinjuku that DMP is planning to release soon. I first ran across the beautiful doctor in ADV's manga releases Demon Palace Babylon & Demon City Shinjuku. It's been awhile, so I'd actually have to check if he was in Demon City Hunter. I know the manga were too brief for the subject or ADV dropped them, but they introduced me to Hideyuki Kikuchi's work. I'd seen Vampire Hunter D, but it hadn't really phased me like the Demon City titles did.
I have this anime from the old Kawajiri brick pak CPM issues, but if the re-mastered is sincerely good, I might be willing to pick up the new dvd.

YES! I already own this but I just may double dip. I mean they did a good job on Fist of the North Star. It looks much better then the original release. Also I'm so glad Hideyuki Kikichi's work is being brought back to life again. I am a huge fan of his writing and love how they were adapted into anime. Discotek is by far my favorite company these days.

Not exactly interested in this but if they plan to rescue more Kawajiri titles then i'm all for it. I would definitely buy the original Birdy The Mighty if they pick up and re-release that OVA over here.

Awesome. I'd been wondering about Discotek. I was just at their site yesterday checking to see if they had any new updates. I guess this is a first for awhile. Hope they release some more classics soon.

Ah, Yashakiden. I adore Yashakiden, as it has not only Dr. Mephisto but Setsura Aki, the beautiful manhunter. =D

Hahahahaha, since I couldn't find a DVD, recently I just made my own DVD of this not too long ago. What a cowinkidink.
Ah, back in the early gritty 90's, when anime could say f*ck and b*tch all the time!

Especially good since a lot of old titles like these have had re-releases with much better video.

Yeah! Another one!
It is an excellent old style vamp story-like pre-Anne Rice. The vamps are powerful, seductive, but deadly monsters our heroes are trying to eliminate, not fall in love with (though the vamps do their best to seduce our heroes). It's more a Stoker's Dracula style chase, but very engrossing. The monsters in this one are 4000 years old as opposed to Dracula being centuries old in Stoker's novel so their power & evil is huge.

I heard great things about that title, now I'll have another chance to check it out for the first time.
I too like how Discotek has been releasing or re-releasing old titles that have been unlicensed for a while. It be super if they could release "Little Norse Prince" on DVD with both Japanese & the once rare English Dub that's viewable on Hulu. Not sure how they'll be able to obtain rights to it. Cause MGM appears to hold rights on it, if I'm not mistaken cause I don't know who else even owns it. But it would still be great if it did get a R1 DVD release, since it was Isao Takahata's first movie.
