I had no doubt that the RIAA and MPAA was behind it ....

Took them long enough.
Virgin Media in the UK have started a similar action already. Last edited by Mohawk52 on Wed Jun 17, 2009 1:40 am; edited 1 time in total |

I'd say the artists/producers/etc who slaved away on this stuff in Japan have been the ones pushing for this. |

^its funny though, you do realize unless you are a super successful artist in the range of Kishmoto and the like, the majority of the money made off of your works is distributed between the Japanese publishing company and the US distributors - i mean most manga artist and creators are not uber rich
so trust me the ones pushing for this the most are the companies, im not saying the artist are as well, but its not like the will ultimately make that much more |

News that we hear like have the opposite effect, as always.
The tighter it gets, the more persistent these pirates go. It's a matter of race between them and who will surrender in the end. |

Neither are most japanese publishers. The nature of publishing -- high overheads amortised over average sales figures that are Pretty Low -- means it's never going to be a highly-profitable business. |

Reason alone the law should not have been changed. No matter. It's in Japan. If citizens don't mind the change, so be it. Just goes to show why bliss can be found from ignorance. |

My,how American of them.
Search engines are illegal now? eh.Until they do away with say "Google",you can find anything, anywhere, anytime online.Depending on if you use it that way. Scratch that,(I just read the other source for this article) search engines are illegal as of now,but won't be after this bill is passed.Brilliant. Non-computer nerds telling computer nerds what to do. |

Sadly, I wish I were. I know where you stand on this position, but that's why we can agree to disagree. Luckily for us in the U.S., crap like this is challenged. So I'm not the only silly one. |

Curse you, as you made me laugh out loud with this comparison, despite its inaccuracy. For some reason, I pictured Doc Holliday downloading Butch Cassidy and the Sundance Kid from The Pirate Bay. For the laws of order are not the same as the laws of civility. |
