I was hoping to hear about this soon, especially since I'm watching the season 1 DVDs in English, and I'm definitely interested in a second season. I hope this gets an R1 release sooner rather than later. Good timing on the announcement too, what with the huge letdown from Gainax.

I always find it funny when we get an announcement that they're about to announce a show rather than that it has actually been announced, but I guess that that's just how it goes sometimes.
In any case, this great news! I really don't know what they're going to do with a second season given that the end of the first will make it rather difficult to follow the same format that they did in the first season. But the world of Darker than Black has plenty left in it to be explored and it'll be fantastic to get more of such a great show.

Oh my freaking gosh, Yes!!
I loved Darker Than Black and have been so desperately waiting for a sequel, I hope its a return of characters from the first season and not a bunch of new ones.

I really enjoyed Darker Than Black but I don't think it needed any more then it did. I'll check it out but really not sure where else it can go.

I screamed when I read this. YES!!
I really wonder how they'll pull it off after what happened in the last episodes, but I'm totally looking forward to it!

I'd really want to see a backstory, like Hei going around the jungles of South America kicking ass without his powers. That would be awesome.
Also, more delicious Yin. Never a bad thing.

This is awesome. I'm watching the dvds now and even though i've only seen to disc 3 I'm in love with the series. I hope they not only bring back Hei but the music- maybe another round of Abington Boys School? I loved Howling

Lol, great.
Now how many years will it take this to get a DVD/Blu-ray release? 2 or 3?

I'd definitely love to see more flashbacks/backstory mixing in with a continuing storyline.

Well, the second season could answer some unanswered questions left in the first season.
Anyways, yeah. This is just awesome news. I'm very very very very happy that a second season will made.

after reading this, I admit it, I squeed like a fangirl.
I love the series and I have to say I can see this series going on, altho in a slightly changed form (some new cast members, some new backplot, maybe a bit more focus on the mysteries in that world instead of primarily on how the characters live in that world). there are angles that weren't explored fully if at all in the first season, it would be fun to see some of those explored.

Well that's pretty sweet, I really enjoyed the first season, so more is more than welcome.

Yes! I knew they couldn't leave it hanging with nothing totally destroyed!
