Is this new develpment of the shakugan no shana series a season 3 or are they just going to liecsed season II in America?

I'm rather curious myself, the words "new anime series" for some reason have me inclined to think it's a re-telling of the series. Y'know kind of like what was done with Dragonball Kai and FMA Brotherhood, which are both Funimation series or at least their predecessors were in the states. Personally I really like the Shana novels and the manga but the art in the anime turned me away from it for one reason or another. But all in all I'm anxious for more info on the subject.

First off, this is the wrong forum for this thread, so I'm moving it to the Anime forum.
Second, based on what little has been said in press releases, this is effectively going to be a Season 3. No license announcement for the second series has yet been made - sadly. |

It has been confirmed that we will be seeing the third Shana series hopefully in October 2009.

At any rate great news. Although I'm not the biggest Shana fan I did enjoy the two existing seasons so more is good. It gets added to the lengthy list of cool sequels I'm anticipating.

Gald to hear will be a new shana....Hope there will be more fight and battles the second season didn't have a lot of action...Now I want my shana 2 dvd...

I am hoping that there Hecate will turn good or somthing in a new season, it feels like the past seasons have included things like absorbing feelings of Yuji and the whole Fumina. spoiler[Fumina must still exist somewhere inside Hecate.] And some answers of Margery Daw would be nice, just as long as we get very little "de arimasu" from Wilhelmina.

I'm hoping for more Shana-tan episodes, as that is the only part I care about anymore (although I was never a big fan to begin with).
