Ok guys here's how it's going to work. Each user will have points to allocate to a series:
1 x 3 points 1 x 2 points 1 x 1 point Post in the topic which anime gets your 3 points, which gets your 2 and which gets your 1. You cannot allocate all points to one anime, each set of points must go to a different series. This means if you do not allocate all of your points to 3 separate anime your vote will be disqualified. I'll tally them all up after 72 hours has passed. So VOTE NOW!! Here's the list, Plot Summaries brought to you by the one and only ANN : RahXephon By Bones Number of episodes: 26 Plot Summary: In a world where time passes at a crawl and the blood of your neighbor runs blue, 17 year old high school student Ayato Kamina goes about his daily life within Tokyo Jupiter oblivious to the world around him, having been educated with the fact that the all civilization but Tokyo has been destroyed. But all that changes when the mysterious civilization "MU" invades his home, raining destruction down from the sky in the form of strange monsters called Dolems. The events that occur next will lead Ayato to the mysterious woman named Reika Mishima, to the truth of their existence, the discovery of what and who he is, and to the powerful angelic robot RahXephon. Gunslinger Girl By MADHOUSE Ltd. Number of episodes: 13 Plot Summary: "Henrietta" was an innocent little girl when her entire family was massacred and she was left for dead. This is the story of Technora's Debris Collecting section, its EVA worker, Hachirota "Hachimaki" Hoshino, and the newcomer to the group, Ai Tanabe. Last Exile By Gonzo Number of episodes: 26 Plot Summary: In a world that looks like the 19th century with anti-gravity devices, Claus and Lavie are pilot and co-pilot of a Vanship and act as couriers. They become involved with a mysterious mission after rescuing a little girl from a strange star-shaped killing machine. Not willing to let the girl die, they complete the mission by delivering her to the legendary mercenary ship Sylvana, only to become part of the crew as fighter pilots. Mushi-Shi By Artland, Inc. Number of episodes: 26 Plot Summary: They are neither plants nor animals. They differ from other forms of life such as the micro-organisms and the fungi. Ginko is a "Mushi-shi" who travels around to investigate and find out more about the "Mushi". In the process, he also lends a helping hand to people who face problems with supernatural occurances which may be related to the "Mushi". Paranoia Agent By MADHOUSE Ltd Number of episodes: 13 Plot Summary: An elementary school kid dubbed with the title "shounen bat" or "lil slugger" has been going around attacking people with his bent, golden bat. Ergo Proxy By Manglobe Inc. Number of episodes: 23 Plot Summary: In a future where the world has been ravaged by a nuclear apocalyse, there exists salvation in a domed city named "Romdeau", where humans and their android servants, the autoreivs, live in. But this utopian landscape is soon broken by a series of mystifying murders. Real Mayar, a female inspector from the Citizen Information Bureau, along with her autoreiv partner Iggy, are tasked to solve the murder cases. She is soon attacked by a creature drawn to her which is neither human nor android, and learns about the mysterious phenomena called "Awakening", an event which draws her further into the case...and to the world beyond the limits of Romdeau. Princess Tutu By Hal Film Maker Number of episodes: 26 Plot Summary: 13-year-old ballet student Ahiru is clumsy, good-hearted and sweet... and has a big secret. The mysterious Drosselmayer morphed a young duck into a girl to give her a mission: help a Prince to get the parts of his heart back. With that in mind, she morphs into Princess Tutu, whose magical dances ease the pain and purifies the bad feelings. Gankutsuou: The Count of Monte Cristo By Gonzo Number of episodes: 24 Plot Summary: Trying to escape his uneventful life, Albert, the son of a renowned general from Paris, makes a journey with his friend Franz. During his travels, he meets an immensely wealthy nobleman named The Count of Monte Cristo. Living in luxurious hotels, surrounded by beautiful women and strong bodyguards, the charming but enigmatic count fascinates Albert. Albert invites the count to join the high society of Paris. However, unknown to Albert, his father had once framed the count and took the Count's fiancee as his own. NieA_7 By Yoshitoshi ABe (and staff) Number of episodes: 13 Plot Summary: In the 21st century, aliens have arrived on Earth and live among humans. In sleepy Enohana, the dirt-poor student Chigasaki Mayuko finds herself living together with NieA, a low-caste ("Under Seven") alien. While Mayuko struggles diligently to make ends meet, NieA seems to be totally unconcerned with the consequences of her actions. As the odd couple throws off the expected sparks, the wrecked alien mothership looms in the background... I won't start counting the votes till FRIDAY, MAY 22 at 18:00 EST (US & Canada, GMT -05:00), so if you want to edit your posts and change which series are getting what points you may do so, but anything changed after this time will be disqualified! Thanks for your understanding Which series will it be? I leave the choice in your hands. Last edited by EvanUnisil on Wed May 20, 2009 11:58 am; edited 7 times in total |

GSG x 3 points.
Unfortunately, I've not seen any of the other series, so I'm going to wing it for the remaining two. Planetes x 2 points. Last Exile x 1 point. |

Mushishi 3 Pts (Amazing series and it can be watched Online for free by many, not sure of regional restrictions)
Princess Tutu 2 Pts (just an all around lovely series and everytime I watch I notice something I missed so I am sure there will be a lot to discuss) Planetes 1 Pt (it was between this and Gakutsuou but I still need to buy that and I already own Planetes) |

3 points -- Mushi-Shi. And seeing as how no one seems to be interested in my old thread anymore, I'm volunteering to start a new one, if enough people are willing to participate. Frankly, I'd rather go episode by episode as opposed to volume by volume like these other BC threads, as I think there's way too much to cover in terms of symbolism and interpretation per episode as opposed to a bunch of episodes at a time, so don't expect it to just zip by like all the other ones. The thread will go at its own pace, just as Ginko does.
2 points -- Gankutsuou: The Count of Monte Cristo. I could probably do the same for this as I'm doing for Mushi-Shi, seeing as how we've also got the original novel to use as discussion material. I also have all the DVDs and could screen cap that bizarre/wonderful artwork. 1 point -- Ergo Proxy. I'd go all-out on this one as well, but I let a friend borrow the DVDs, and then he disappeared (or died, and no one bothered to contact me), but I have another friend who recently bought the box set, so I could probably get those as well. Note: If all 3 of these happen to become threads, I probably won't be able to maintain all 3. Well, maybe 2 of the 3 if I go into "obsessive" mode and do nothing else with my time but make plot summaries, screen caps, and give opinions, but yeah, I've got all 3 of these series rated Masterpiece, and would be willing to show my fandom for each of 'em. |

Gunslinger Girl - 3
Monte Cristo - 2 Planetes - 1 I think, in the future, it'd be good to have a link to the show, or at least the number of episodes shown so that we know what we're signing up for. Last edited by arachneia on Tue May 19, 2009 8:08 pm; edited 1 time in total |

3 points to NieA_7...because I own the DVDs and really want to actually sit down and watch the series.
2 points to Gankutsuou...because I own the DVDs and I'm pretty sure I won't actually sit down and watch it unless I have reason. 1 point to Mushi-Shi...because I can stream it at hulu. Even though its the dub. Maybe I'll see how much the boxset is... |

This seems like a good list to choose from.
x3 for Gankutsuou: The Count of Monte Cristo, hopefully this will finally get me to watch it. I've been putting it off for far to long. x2 for Last Exile, I've only watched the first 5 episodes or so of this series, so this would be a fun way to finish it. x1 for Planetes, this is basically the same situation as Gankutsuou (I've been meaning to watch it but haven't had time to). So this gets my final slot. Truth be told I thought all of them were great series to choose from. So I thought that I'd just vote for the ones I haven't seen yet. P.S. I thought Paranoia Agent had gone out of print after Genoen left the picture. If I'm wrong I'd love it if someone would PM me where I could buy it, so that I could watch it if the series is chosen. Thank you. |

Cool. I'm going on impulse for this vote.
1 X 3 Gankutsuou -- I think this may be the best choice. Marginal depth while still having a lot of juice and layers for people to discuss on the plot side of things or comparison to the novel. 1 X 2 Mushi Shi -- Easy accessibility and a love for the series. Kinda complex though, so hmmm... 1 X 1 Gunslinger Girl -- It's short and I own it. Yeah, sad, I know. I guess I'm not voting for Paranoia Agent or RahXephon because I want to see what a book club for an easier-to-understand series would be like. |

3x - Gankutsuou
An excellent series which I definitely intend to re-watch and this would give me a good excuse to do so earlier rather than later. 2x - Planetes See above. It's essentially the same reason. 1x - RahXephon There are some rather conflicting opinions about this series and, since for whatever bizarre reason that's right up my alley, a good discussion about it would be nice. |
