...In before people start whine and complain about TvC being on Wii.
With Punch-Out, Bionic Commando, and now Lunar, 2009 really seems to be the year of retro revivals. |

Um, Lunar 2 is to Lunar 1 as Final Fantasy IV 2 and Final Fantasy X 2 are to Final Fantasy IV and X.
I wonder if Vic will return to work on this one; or will Atlus just outsource his ass?
I got an SNES, because everything else either cost $400 or was limited to generic platformers and SF 2 ports.
That's about what the sixth game in the series cost, ne? Then SQ'Enix will put it on a cart or PSP.
Yeah, because that kind of rating stops them from buying GTA. |

I like the guy with the guns on the Cross Edge cover. He really wants to be as cool as Reiji Arisu from Namco x Capcom/Endless Frontier, he really does! Poor guy.
Some specifics on Super Robot Gakuen: For some reason people either haven't been getting or just outright haven't read the current descriptions of the game. It's about a world where all the best pilots went to a certain school(s?) to train to be that good and all their combat data is stored in simulators. This follows the exploits of that guy and gal as they train with the simulator and use it to battle other students, some kind of YuGiOh-esque evil, etc. To quote a fellow named Fallen who translated some details from the magazine it was announced in:
The whole idea seems to be a way of getting a ton of series into one game without having to worry about the specifics of connecting their storylines. Also, it'll have a two player battle mode. So no, you won't have characters from robot anime being turned into high schoolers and such. It's also worth mentioning that a fairly similar idea was done with Super Robot Wars Link Battler for the Game Boy Color in 1999 or so. Kids using a computer simulator to battle robots, etc. Also: No, there aren't any known date sim elements. People keep saying there are like there definitely are at this point but er that just isn't true. The entire series line up consists of those featured in Super Robot Wars J, W, and K - from the current screenshots, it looks like most if not all of the sprites and portraits are directly reused from those games. The only aberrations: Tekkaman Blade and Tekkaman Blade II are absent and Getter Robo: Armageddon (Change! Shin Getter Robo: Last Days of Earth) has replaced Shin Getter Robo (which was just the robot with the 70's anime version characters piloting). The last time Armageddon was featured (and the only other time) was in D for the GBA, which had mostly static sprites ala classic SRW, so I imagine there will have to be some kind of new drawing going on. Although, the only screenshot we have right now is a reused Shin Getter cut in from Alpha 2/W, so er um... |

Lunar PSP: I won't complain, I still play the PS1 version from time to time to level up my Level 60+ party. Amazing this got another remake, but I guess there are some classics you can't bury no matter how many years pass.
Tastu vs. Cap: I think a lot of people are going to squeal when I tell them this is coming at last. Crimson Gem Saga: I seriously want this game. The battle system looks quite interesting and definitely seems like a winner for the PSP RPG market. X Edge: I have to tell you, the voice cast for this game in English is pretty small. Like about as big as they had for the dub of Blood+. I hope they don't muck this one up like they did Ar tonelico 2. Well you know, NxC was full of obscure characters. That’s most likely why they didn’t release it. No one has any idea who Wonder Momo, Berabou Man (though he made a teeny tiny cameo in Tales of Vesperia) and Tarosuke even are. On a final note, I don’t really know what to make of Resonance of Fate. We’ll see in due time I guess. |

Is Pen Pen a playable character in the Evangelion game?
They need to do a game where you play as Pen Pen. Using the engine for the GTA series. Call it Grand Theft Eva. |

Please for all that is good in this world Shining Dragon has to be Mature rated to sell better among it's fans of the tv series. It's not Ikki Tousen if there isn't clothes ripping off. Cross Edge I am definitely going to purchase that next week(actually I almost already have it all paid for). Lunar remake on PSP makes me happy since I haven't got a chance to play that series ever. I would love to get Tatsunoko Vs. Capcom but just the fact that it's on the Wii kind of gets me not to get it or at least maybe 1 of these days I will get a Wii but ugh just not a fan of the Wii controls. Another Super Robot game and more anime-style? That makes me excited.

Wait, are they doing a new translation for Lunar?
That's a hard act to follow! Working Designs' script was so lively and fun it totally make up for all the fairly bland early '90's JRPG that was all over that game and made it my all-time favorite. Atmosphere makes all the differance. If only they hadn't been such fanboys and been so extravagent with their releases, maybe they'd still be around? I mean, the manual was hardbound! Who even ever looks at the manual? Oh, look, a small herb will heal a characters a small number of hit points. |

There are talks that XSeed will be the ones bringing Lunar over here, which would seem weird, considering Vic Ireland's company could use more than just one game (Miami Law) under his belt. Last edited by sfried on Wed May 20, 2009 1:16 am; edited 4 times in total |

Hmm...Landstalker, Landstalker, did those people (or at least some of them) make Alundra for PS1? If so, then I'll probably be buying Steal Princess.

I dunno, Steal Princess reminds me of Lode Runner. I really loved those games.

2009 is now officially the Year of the Fighter with Street Fighter IV, Blazblue, Marvel vs Capcom 2, King of Fighters XII, and Tatsunoko vs Capcom and that is pretty awesome. TvC also brings up what's the OTHER mystery game Capcom is going to show at E3 this year.
And of course I'm always keeping my eye on Resonance of Fate, tri-Ace fanboy that I am |

Sort of. Alundra was made by Matrix Software, and Matrix was co-founded by some former Climax employees who'd worked on Landstalker. Climax keeps making Landstalker-ish games (like Lady Stalker and Dark Savior), but I don't think there's any staff overlap between Alundra and Steal Princess. |

Well I know Capcom is releasing the fighting game Fate/Unlimited Codes for America and Europe this year but it's a downloadable only Playstation Network PSP game. No physical copy but just the fact I can play that game with full English text is enough for me to download it. As far as if this is a game they will announce at E3 I don't know. Oh and you forgot to add that Tekken 6 and maybe even the PSP Soul Calibur game may even come out this year as well. |
