Just what we need, another crapy Beckett anime magazine.
 I guess the kids need something to read too...

Ugh.
Doesn't sound all that great. Wish they'd actually get some real girls in on projects like this. I'd kill for an anime magazine targeted at girls that actually knew what it was doing.

I totally agree with you. Hollywood hunks? This doesn't seem like something I would like reading (me being a 20 year old female anime fan). This seems like something 12 year olds would pick up. Hmm... very dissapointing. I would love to get in on a real project for female anime fans, but I doubt something like that would ever happen.

Beckett never was targeted at an older audience, it was for the kids. (One of the reasons why I always hated that magazine...  )

Well, given how poorly the current (or deceased) crop of manga magazines did, they might do better if they market it to the young children who might buy up everything to do with what is popular.
Admittedly, it feels like prostituting manga to my purist outlook, but you can't blame them for following the money. |

Skimmed Beckett. It was frightening. (Orlando Bloom as Inuyasha...*shudders*)
Anime obsessed girls don't care about "Hollywood Hunks!" They care about hot fantasy anime bishies~! Oh wait. Readers of Beckett aren't REAL anime fans... Seriously, any entrepeneur-wannabes out there? You REALLY should start a GOOD anime mag. The only decent one around here is Newtype USA, and even that fails us sometimes... Hope someone translates PASH! a la Newtype for us! |

It covers a lot of series that have a strong female following. Anime-wise Vol. 1 covered Mariasama, Hagaren, Fafner, Destiny, Champolo, Prince of Tennis, Vie Durant, Tactics as well as others. Game wise it covers Suikoden IV, Sukisho! Angelique, Gakuen Heaven as well as other Boys Love titles. Reviews of CD, DVD, manga, TV shows. It also covers character goods collecting such as Pinky:st. There are various staff and seiyuu interviews as well. It is very much like Animage but focused on what female fans are interested in. It is released bi-monthly and vol. 2 just recently came out. I'll get our supplier to start getting it for us. I think we can still get the second volume since it is recent.

Jesusbus . . . doesn't Beckett already have about half a dozen anime magazines already? Anime fandom sn't really all that huge, I think we can do fine with just Animerica and Newtype USA.
Although that PASH! thing does sound pretty cool. If they translated that, I'd check out an issue.

they say shoujo but they don't really know what shoujo is. and what examples they give: Inuyasha and The World of Narue, both these are shounen and not shoujo. maybe both titles are followed by female fans but both titles are based on manga serialized in shounen magazines that are targeted at male audience(so shounen). ok no big deal, most companys don't know how to do a simple search on google to check what magazine its serialized in(a shounen magazine or a shoujo magazine) ^^; |

Now that is pretty sad. It's like those guys who blushingly post in shoujo communities about how they're just *so* unmanly for reading "shoujo" comics like Love Hina and Chobits.
I hate to think the youngest generation of anime fans will grow up with that misconception on their mind. |

What's really sad is that we haven't even mentioned Saiyuki or things along the line of Gravitation and Fake. I (a man of the male persuasion) would be more concerned with getting a(nother) shoujo anthology over here than a shoujo magazine, especially from a company that specializes in collectibles. |

You mean some people actually *believe* those were shoujo? What next? Negima gets labelled as "kids" manga because it takes place in jr. high?
