On top of that it will sounds like it will only be a DVD release. I'll be waiting, as I don't want to send any signals that this is what I consider appropriate now.

Either they have to do one or the other, they can't do neither and expect me to buy it.

That doesn't mean I won't buy if it comes out bluray subtitled, but I'll wait.

This is really turning into the season of simul-licenses. Sure we've had a lot of companies like Sentai and FUNi pick up shows for simulcast with the option to release them on DVD later, but I don't remember so many outright DVD announcements prior to their Japanese broadcast. One thing this does seem to be saying is that past simulcast titles sold very well on DVD. Very interesting, I'd like to see what the numbers look like.

I too am disappointed, though for the lack of Bluray Mad

I suppose it's not unexpected given their history. Only "mainstream" titles have gotten the bluray/dub treatment. The rest, being mostly dramas/romance, regardless of fanservice, have been relegated to the DVD-bin.

The only exception is Clannad. I'm not sure if people are going to be buying as much of Ano Natsu de Matteru for them to do the same.

Why?
I probably won't agree with the reasoning but could you try to help me at least understand why you had hoped this particular show would get a dub.

so toradora is subbed only, anohana is to much of a risk to even release, and now this is going to subbed only dvd. all I can say is that quality titles actual deserve a dub based on their quality instead of samurai girls and the like.

For all intents and purposes a quality show is a show that makes money for the distributor. If a show is predicted to not make enough money for a distributor with a dub then that show doesn't deserve a dub.

It's not a strong reason, but this was one of the shows I somehow wanted to watch the most since pretty much 95% of the other shows sounded like crap; except for like Black Rock Shooter nothing else caught my attention at all. I wasn't expecting this to get licensed so soon, I just wanted the show I was most looking forward to; to get a dub but...guess not -_-.

Toradora was wonderful, so I'm definitely looking forward to this one. I wish AnoHana would get licensed too!

I for one am very glad this got licensed too. I hope for and expect good things from some the same folks who worked on Onegai Teacher and Twins, both faves of mine. I'm looking forward to a show with some heart in it.

from my understanding, Toradora did very well for NIS Ameerica, and if it was given a proper good dub, It could have done more.

samurai girls was a good show, in its own right, it was especially visually stunning,.

but I like Samurai girls, mainly because of a certain voice actress who does a good flat chested tsundere (did I spell that right?) Razz

SHAFT had nothing to do with Samurai Girls. That was an ARMS production (same studio that did Queen's Blade, Kite, and Elfen Lied).

As for Ano Natsu de Matteru, another pre-debut license, but a less-surprising one given the momentum coming off of AnoHana. I may give it a chance, but as one of the very few people that actually didn't like AnoHana, I'm not jumping for joy over it, especially with it giving off similar vibes.

Personally I feel that the original Japanese dub is much better for romance-centric titles.

For titles that contain philosophical and political and/or other debatable issues then an Eng dub would be preferable because the scripts use various appropriate words. Japanese vocabulary lacks there.

I would prefer to watch Ergo Proxy in English but I'd rather die than choose to watch Clannad in English which btw had horrendous English VAs.

Who's to say it won't? If it does decently in sub-only, then Sentai could change their mind! Razz That's what happened with several of their other titles. They seem to be dubbing more lately too!
