I keep forgetting he was in charge of that episode of Evangelion with the synchronized dancing attack. That was one of my favorite episodes, too, and I'll be rewatching it this week, since I'm rewatching the series.
I think Mizushima is a fairly good director. He did a fine job with the first FMA series, 00 was okay (despite a few missteps), and I look forward to the new Gainax anime he'll be involved in.

I'm actually curious as to what this will be considering Shikabane Hime ended in utter failure for Gainax by pulling a DVD only finale despite saying "END" on the TV episode 12

I'm not trying to be mean, but for a guy whose output is the most popular with teens, I'm surprised he looks so much like a man-child. You'd think he'd be the last person who'd know "trendy", I guess. Yeah, I know I'm sounding mean, anyway, but I'm sure people understand what I'm saying.

I've got a soft spot in my heart for Mizushima - he's awesome with wacky, heartwarming comedy, and he seems to go along with a lot of my favorite seiyuu. I wish I could get to AX this year....

Gawd... I'd love to get his autograph. He's directed some of my favorite anime.

I'm interested in seeing him. Perhaps I will ask him about his opinion on the current Brotherhood.

Interesting. We've got a lot of related quests coming to AX this year.
First, we've got Trigun creator Yasuhiro Nightow and the director of the anime Satoshi Nishimura.
Second, we've got Yosuke Kuroda, who wrote the script for the Trigun anime and also wrote Gundam 00.
Finally, we get the director of Gundam 00. The man himself, Seiji Mizushima!
The gang's all here! All of them are linked by the screenwriter Kuroda.

Huh? Shikabane Hime: Aka is the first season with 13 eps, which all aired on Japanese TV. Kuro is the second season with 12 eps, which, again, all aired on Japanese TV. To my knowledge, it has been a successful show. Oh, and Gainax and Feel produced the show together.

That pretty much applies to majority of Japanese animation professionals. Let's see, they're still single despite their age. Mizushima is, what, like 43 years old now? Even some of them are married, only a handful have children. These people are reflection of current Japanese society on birth rate.
Currently, I'm translating 5,000 words interview of Mizushima before he directed Full Metal Alchemist. In the interview, he said that he consciously copied Hideaki Anno's directorial style. For example, how to approach each staff member, how to make your point while in production, and etc.

Ask, but don't expect to get clear answer. There is one thing about Japanese guest that I learned. They won't say any personal opinion to anyone unless that person is familiar to them.
