Pretty lame, but I understand his reasonings. As long as it's a temporary thing.I find him to usually be an awesome composer. From what I read (of a translated post), it seemed he was upset that she was content with what she has accomplished and that she wasn't being ambitious or something like that. It could've been a bad translation of course. If that was correct, then I understand his view but he expressed it very poorly by simply calling it stupid...Great composer, but I guess he needs to work on his communication skills and personality.

Hey, at least he speaks his mind, unlike many by-the-script celebrities!

To be honest, while I have always been against any sort of boycott on the Kokoro Connect novels, the controversy has made me refrain from buying the OP single for the time being...

Here's a translation of what he tweeted to Momoi:
http://www.otafez.com/2012/08/28/kikuchi-hajime-of-eufonius-commented-that-momoi-harukos-tweet-about-her-dream-is-stupid/ If it was indeed his intention to have some sort of meaningful discussion about ambition, then he really does need to work on his communication skills because that didn't come through at all. I don't think he ever offered any sort of reasoning for saying what he said in neither his subsequent tweets nor in his apology. And his tweet about Ichiki doesn't help his case at all. Nah, he's definitely a bona fide jerk. In an industry where tons of people try hard to pursue a dream, to make fun of that effort from a position within, especially making fun of a struggling newbie who's just in an oversaturated market, is crass. Even if you agree with the base of what he says-- that it's naive to chase these impossible dreams-- the way he said it was jerkish. Stepping away from eufonius, to distance the name from himself, is the right thing to do.

And those DVD/BD sales continue to tank regardless how well the anime is doing base on viewership. |

Eh? What is eufonius without the composer?
I always like the music he made, but perhaps he needs a better communication skill. And, I don't know the relation between him and Haruka Momoi, but for me, I often say rude things like "idiot" or something harsh to my close friend. It might be just a bad misinterpretation to their fans. But, since both of them quit using twitter after the incident, maybe that is not the case. |

To tell you the truth the only person or the only controversy in the whole Kokoro Connect scandal that made me really pissed is this article. I think thats the right thing to do. He shouldn't make that comment in a first place if his really a good composer. He should show more professionalism. Make me give him a minus 10 points.

I honestly love the band's music (I was blown away by Hiyoku no Hane, the OP of Yosuga no Sora, the first time I've listened to it), so I hope this does not mean the self-destruction of eufonius.
Especially when Kikuchi sort-of defamed Momoi Halko (another of my favorite singers). |
