You've gotta be f****** kidding me!! I was really digging that story! Was it really ranking low this whole time on WSJ?! What the heck was it about that manga where not enough people were liking it?

Preaching to the Double-Arts-fan choir here. (Granted, I only discovered that one much later.) |

I refuse to read any new Weekly Jump series because of this very reason. New series find it really hard to survive in the magazine with so many big ongoing titles. It's a shame but we saw this coming.

It had the potential to be a really amazing manga..
Japan needs to get their act together.. I know other countries have different tastes.. but still.. it's bullshit.. |

Sorry to see it go, but this is the perfect opportunity to BRING BACK REBORN. It's 400th chapter comes out in Japan this week, and Viz dropped it right when it was getting really good! And with them having all the WSJ titles locked down, the chance of a license rescue is pretty much non-existant. If they're looking to fill Barrage's spot, Reborn is the perfect choice.

This is Japan's version of cutting a series short.

I'm sad to know this. I liked the art in this manga, and was planning to catch up with it soon. I thought bringing it to SJA gave it some sort of safety from "getting the axe". I guess now I'm glad I never picked it up, havina series cut short like this when you're getting really into it must be really depressing. This is why I never pick up any WSJ manga until it's at least 30 chapters in and/or has an Anime green-lit

Getting serialized in WSJ is a pact with the devil. Authors know this. You have access to a giant audience by being serialized in Weekly Jump, but at the same time the Jump Editors have a short leash on cancelling stuff. And if its canned, you can't just take it somewhere else to continue. You're done with it. They own it.

I'm kinda disapointed by this, as it was one of the three weekly series I actually followed in WSJA, besides the monthly Ruroni Kenshin chapters. I do hope we get a good replacement, as I'd like to support WSJA, but it would barely be worth it for two weekly series and a monthly one.

according to bakuman, it's not about how many people read it. A manga got canceled because it has low ranking by the reader. I don't think there is a way to know how many people read it anyway. Readers from illegal manga website doesn;t count, you can't make money off them. |
