First Peach Fuzz, now Van Von Hunter...

Where the hell are Devil's Candy and The Calling Grounds?

The creators of Devil's Candy and The Calling Grounds chose not to have their works turned into series. They took the prize money and went on to other projects. Anime smile

Still, it would've rocked if Devil's Candy and The Calling Grounds had continuations...

The author of The Calling Grounds even said it was actually part of a much larger story they had been working on.

Guess Tokyopop's offer wasn't "Generous" enough.

You've also got to take into account that TP's demands on its homemade releases are pretty demanding -- they generally won't grant you a book deal unless you have concrete plans for a 3-vol series of 150-page GNs, and can produce that content at a rate of 15 pages a week. Basically they won't sign you unless (1) you actually approach the Tokyopop co. with a serious pitch for the series; (2) you're committed to making comics as a full-time job. So yeah, just because a moderately talented artist with an OMGBRILLIANT Epic Series That Will Be Longer Than Naruto got an excerpt from their series published in RSOM, doesn't guarantee that Tokyopop will publish their work in full-length format. Unless of course this artist can prove that their Epic Series will fit nicely enough into a 3-vol story arc at first, and they're willing to work 16 hours a day for the next year or so on it.

Basically, they'll publish RSOM winners, but the winners have to approach them first. And have the time, resources, and determination.
