Oh, it blew me away, alright. It was the worst-mixed sound system I've ever heard. I get the feeling it was designed by Dr Dre. Thankfully, they seemed to have fixed it for the AMV Extravaganza, but the Anime Idol was still disappointing due to the incredible bass bloating, nonexistent dynamic range and fuzziness. I could barely recognise songs I knew; it was quite impressive in its own way. Moving on, however, this is a great write-up. Hanabee was the star this year - I heard they even gave out free doughnuts at their panel, and regret not going - and the maid café was simply delightful. Great food and wonderful atmosphere. Mainfest as a whole did seem somewhat subdued, though, and I hope this year was just a hiccough. Organisation and promotion was, as the writer said, sadly lacking. Still, it was enjoyable as always. |
