I'm a big Negima fan and I'm skipping this. I'm conflicted at best on the second Negima anime series, so an adaptation of sorts of that has little appeal. The 2nd anime pacing is just completely off with the plotting rushing interesting elements and adding lots of pointless poor shonen action sequences. I'd probably get Negima Neo if it was just a Negima gag book, as the best parts of the Negima 2 reboot have just been bizarre and absurd character moments.

Mmm. If it's just going to be a retread of the anime series, then I'll pass these up. Though I might get this volume just for Chapter 0, obsessive fanboy completist that I am. Razz

I've never seen the point of anime slavishly following the manga and not bringing anything new; the opposite stands true as well.

I'm a big negima fan and I bought this the day it was released. I like the second negima anime better than the original manga, and while I like this manga less than the original manga, it's better than the first anime.

So, from what I understand:

original manga > spin-off manga

original manga > second anime

second anime > spin-off manga == first anime

7th circle of hell >>> live action adaptation

The Negima Neo manga does start to diverge a little in volume 3. It rushes through the "plot" of Negima!? In the first two volumes, so there's a chance it will start developing a story of it's own, although if the only positive indicator of that so far is spoiler[Kotaro pops up] in volume 3, it's still doubtful. Neo is mediocre at best.

Well i like both anime versions and the neo manga is interesting enough. Though it's not as good as the original manga,it's decent enough to purchase and to keep track of.

Wow. I know it's based off an akamatsu title but I didn't think this would get a stateside release so soon/ever o,o;; The only thing that caught my interest is the mention of the art being more readable. I don't know if it's just me, but I've always found Negima almost seizure inducing with the way there is so much packed into each page o,o;;

Negima Neo is just a doujinshi with screentones in the right places.

Negima : Negima Neo = Evangelion : NGE Angelic Days

True, but that's the reason some otakus like it of course. Which is why i got it as well. Cause when it comes to hopeless guys surrounded with girls,Akamatsu knows what he's doing.

I have a feeling all of his storys are based on his own love life. Laughing

At least Angelic Days showed us an alternate world on how things would have if certain characters were alive and have different (and more) personality.

I only thinking of getting it just to see how Negi graduated.

Negima Neo it just rehash of the original, it is just jumping on the band wagon hoping to get quick cash. I fail to see how making a new manga when the orginals is not yet completed and reaching full steam is good idea.

That the best part, you have better reason to look through the manga again and again to soak in the art. Though I would be honest if they had to put that much in make the manga bigger like a magazine.
