Good times, good times. Shame about the lack of Blu-Ray, but still an excellent choice! But is the first release 12 episodes or 13?

GREAT NEWS That Toradora is goin to be released in Australia, I love the Japanese with english subs but english audio (am I right bout that on Aussie release) will be even better (unless the mess up english voice casting).
What I'm not happy with is no Blu ray release (come on! heaps of new and old anime are coming out on blu ray now and it makes the quality better!) and that I will have to buy individual volumes when I want a whole box set which is always cheaper than building series from volumes.
But I guess you cant have everything! Anyone know if there are complete box sets on DVD Blu ray in America with english audio dub that I could import? Im guessing blu ray from America wont work on my aussie blu ray player?

I can't comment on region locking through BluRay, that's for people smarter than myself. But you have to remember that we are a small market, I'm sure Hanabee has their reasons for not going with BluRay for now.
And if you want to see more of this, you need to pick it up

The US release dosent have a dub and isn't on BD either, so unless your in it for the (admittedly rather nice) artbook and flashy box, there's not a whole lot of point in importing. Even though I've already got the US releases im thinking of maybe rebuying the Aussie release when it becomes available, since the US video release seems kinda questionable in terms of video quality.
As for BD region's, your correct to some extent and not to others. While a stock standard 'same as when you got it from the box' BD player wont play anything beside region B BD's, there are quite a few different makes of BD player available that can either be unlocked through a secret menu, have the firmware modified or be chipped in order to make them able to play multiple regions.
The best part about this is that because an ACCC inquiry found region codes to be unfair, all those sorts of chipping and modwork are done with the blessing of the government.
