All of the character names are written family name first, given name last...
Also, anime 492 has the word "OVA" as part of the title when it should be just the media type. |

492 is correct. If you've looked through all the encyclopedia, all OVA series have OVA as part of the title.
Also, 493 is correct too. You only have to put the names in last name first and first name last when entering information. It is then shown as first, last when on the actual title. |

Yeah, the character names were entered family name-first ("Ayukawa Madoka" instead of "Madoka Ayukawa"). The thing is, we don't really separate character names like we do for staff/cast. There's just one textbox for "role" and no clear guidelines about naming conventions. Of course, it would be nice if the role was formated like staff/cast names, but it doesn't really matter that much.
This is kind of a legacy issue. Originally it wasn't possible to enter the same title for two anime, even if the type was different. That's because we wanted to differentiate between titles like "Patlabor" and "Patlabor TV" and "Patlabor OAV 2". Also, we needed unique titles for the greenlinks. Later on, we changed it so that duplicate titles would work as long as the type was different, so now we differentiate titles like this: "Patlabor (OAV)" vs. "Patlabor (TV)" vs, "Patlabor (OAV 2)" |

Shouldn't there be a standard? It's a pet peeve of mine seeing names switched all around and not having just one way. It confuses people to no end when they don't know which is which. I've seen several anime on here where some characters are listed family name first, and others with family name last. I'd gladly go through them all and edit them if I had that power, but for now.. It's really bothersome and looks unorganized. =/

animenewsnetwork.com/bbs/phpBB2/viewtopic.php?t=11085 It's sort of discussed similarly in this thread. You'll see my stance. |

OKay, they're all fixed (Area Seven fixed the OVA).
