I won a lot of Japanese laserdiscs on eBay pretty recently. Among them was a title I was unfamiliar with called "Cynical Hysterie Hour."
All I really know about it is that it's a collection of short films (I'd describe them as being kind of Peanuts-esque) with a soundtrack by avant-garde musician John Zorn. Apparently the soundtrack album was once considered highly collectible by Zorn fans, but I can't find any info about the laserdisc. Does anyone know anything about this? The shorts are widescreen, so I assume they were designed to be shown theatrically. I don't suppose anyone knows what they were shown with. Any light anyone can shine on this little series would be appreciated! |

We actually have Encyclopedia entries for this series of shorts (see here for a link to the first one) but not a whole lot of information about them; just when they were made, the principal staff (complete?) behind them, and one studio involved in production.
I suspect that what you have may be a very rare find. Whether or not it's worth anything is another story. |
