I started noticing last week that Funimation Channel on Demand programming is now playing as part of the Anime Selects section on Comcast. The programs started being added over a week ago, and currently include Tsubasa Chronicle, Suzuka, Black Cat, and Burst Angel. Most have the first 4-5 episodes available, though some don't appear to have episode 1 available for some reason.
I didn't realize the programming was actually from the Funimation Channel, until I picked an episode of Burst Angel and was greeted by the Funi Channel on Demand logo (right after the Anime Selects intro.) I wonder if this is one of the "interesting" deals Gen Fukunaga said he was working on for the channel. It is pretty interesting that the channel doesn't have it's own listing, and the programming is instead listed in the Anime Selects section. Regardless, it's good to see more anime on cable, even if it's not exactly the cream of Funi's crop. Also good to see more exposure for their channel, and more variety on Selects. I was getting tired of old CPM and Bandai shows. |

Nice to know that it's expanding onto other service provides. Bad that I don't have Comcast, though. I kinda thought that they had given up on their channel until their recent license rescues. It was obvious that they were just grabbing shows for it.
Hopefully, they make it onto U-verse. |
