One wonders how many female attendees will actually show up.

I wonder how many depraved otaku, desperate to get in on the action, will try cross dressing in an attempt to sneak in? Will need to keep an eye on tabloids to see what the fallout is...

For what? It's not like Otaku are a race or a sexuality.

And? Its still an offensive, baseless tarring of a group of people he's already demonstrated to have an irrational vendetta against.
Its not racist or sexist, certainly, but its still an offensive attitude to hold, and just in general, obsessions over what other groups of people are doing, that has no actual impact on you, is not a very endearing character trait.

It's bizarre how you seem to think that offensiveness is limited to race and sexuality.

What are you even talking about? How did I EVER imply that those two were the only things offensiveness was limited to?
They were merely the two examples that came to the top of my head.

Saying that it's not racist or sexist is irrelevant because those aren't the only two ways to be offensive. However, the way you worded the response did come across as you implying that since it was neither racial or sexual that it also wasn't offensive.

Well, judging from your avatar, I think you should know the demographic of the readers of Yuri Hime. It's about 2/3 to 3/4 female, so I'm pretty sure there are some who are fans of the anime who will go.

I had ignored this article before and this thread wasn't inviting, but on a whim, I read it and discovered something that I'm surprised to see has gone without explicit mention:
Quote: | ...footage of it will be streamed live on the internet for male fans of the series. |
That seems a little creepy to me. This is being billed as a 'girls-only event', but I get the feeling that they aren't the ones whom this is meant to serve. I suspect that there might be an element of coercion or 'persuasion' behind the presence of a nontrivial share of the attendees.

Makes no sense to have that viewpoint in my opinion. It's much creepier to have an 'only male' live audience.
