I don't know if this is the right place to put this or not, but I just wanted to point out that I just bought the new Last Exile DVD, and on the back of it there is this:
Quote: | "Last Exile doesn't fail to please, maintaining the series' lush imagery and complicated engrossing story." - Anime News Network |
I'm sure you guys already know about this, but just in case you didn't I wanted to point it and say congrats. It's pretty neat IMO.

I loved Last Exile. I saw it on techTV Anime Unleashed. I they don't show the rest of the episodes, I'm about ready to buy the DVD.

Hum. I want to point out another thing. It does appear at the first volume of Ai Yori Aoshi manga. It's a page about Love Hina publicity.
Quote: | Love Hina is nothing but a laugh out loud joyride...Hilarious. Fun characters. Beatiful Art. - Anime News Network |
That is just mainly saying to us that ANN is really more than an anime news website, and their staff are more of just a web page collaborators/magazine writers...

I... don't know what you're getting at. Can you rephrase that?
Is it surprising that ANN would be quoted on boxes? We're still partially a review site, after all. There's quotes from ANN scattered on quite a few boxes out there. I can only think of a few off the top of my head right now, but there's GTO Vol. 1, and some hentai box. I don't remember which one.
Companies randomly pull any quote that sounds good, pretty much. I remember watching an awful, awful show and seeing a quote on there from AnimeOnDVD saying "One of the best shows ever animated! A rare treat!!" or something like that. I looked it up on AOD and it was like, the 4th "Alternate Angle" review for that title, written by some forum user who was pretty much the only guy on the planet that liked that show. I thought that was pretty funny.
;p That Love Hina quote..... ehhh....... Many years ago, I wrote a preview for Love Hina on ANN. At the time, I was but young and naive and loooooved Love Hina after watching the first few episodes. I thought it was freaking hysterical. Flash forward to now and I can't stand the show. Doh.

And now you know why we don't do alternate angle reviews anymore :)

Not really surpising no, it's just the first time that I have ever noticed that it has actually happened. I was just pointing out that I thought it was neat, and saying congrats because it was the first time I had noticed it. That is all

That's not just limited to anime, video companies are good at pulling out any seemingly good quote from even the harshest of reviews. The only exception I've ever seen was Gigli, I do not think there was a single quote on the box I saw, pretty scary.

First volume of Ai Yori Aoshi manga released by Tokyopop. After the whole story, they put some publicity pages of other manga they have, including one for Love Hina. And they quoted that thing from ANN. Better now?
By the way, I used to think the same as you did with Love Hina. It was probably one of the series who introduced me (definitevely, I mean) into the world, and nothing could stop me of being in front of a T.V. every day at 8:00 pm.
And I recently watched again the Love Hina specials and thought "Hum...Did I really like this so much? Weird."

I liked love hina lots, and I still do. I didn't come to disliking love hina since I didn't grow out of liking romantic comedies. However, I will say that as is with most such stories I have encountered in anime/manga, the main characters are way too indecisive the way that real people are not, and the show had more and more fan service toward the end of the series, while the specials were too serious for some reason and not all that funny.
But even with these blemishes, I still think the show was very entertaining, and probably won't turn against it for quite some time.

Not all hentais must be a lacking serie. Worth Words has enough things on it out of the sexual context. Not all hentais deserve bad marks, you know.

It's nice to see quotes from my favorite web sites, but sometimes they can be quite invading. Geneon keeps them small and on the back. It's worst when companies release a title and the quotes get more attention than the movie. If you see the cover of Enternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind, you would be a believer too.
