"So heeeeyyyy, bad news America...No English subs on the Do You Remember Love blu-ray. But don't worry! You can still import Magic Tree House!"

Kidding aside, it's always nice to see them release movies with English speakers in mind. I can almost picture myself being interested in this if I were still in elementary school, but the anime designs just clash too strongly with my memories of the original book covers. Those were some danged good covers.

That looks interesting. I'll have to watch the movie to see if it's something I want to buy.

So wait...

A movie based on an American book series.....

By an American author....

About American children....

Doesn't get an English dub?

........*groans* I REALLY hate being an anime fan sometimes. Confused

I don't always spring for expensive Blu-Ray imports, but when I do, I prefer adaptations of books that comprised a good portion of my childhood.

No, seriously, I'm buying this as soon as it becomes available. I don't care if it's 60-80 dollars.

Why would it get an English dub in the JAPANESE release? Razz

If it somehow gets licensed here, I think an English dub is inevitable.

Actually, it's not unheard of, even for an initial Japanese release. Biggest example is Gundam Unicorn; simultaneous English track on both North American and Japanese blu-rays.

But yeah, it'd be pretty nuts if Magic Tree House got a simultaneous English dub. Among the people who would buy a disc straight from Japan (i.e. anime fans), a lot more would buy something like Gundam Unicorn than Magic Tree House.

I doubt that this is going to get marketed to the books' audience in the States. It's waaaayyy too anime, and that doesn't mesh with the way the books have been marketed here.

No, it's not unheard of. Not that anyone here has implied otherwise but it is very unlikely to happen and practically expected that a Japanese anime only have Japanese for it's audio on the initial release, regardless of where the source material came from.

Probably more to help the Japanese learn English, since not too many English-speaking kids would want to watch subs.
