This trailer certainly has me interested. I have high expectations...but this probably won't be translated for years unfortunately.
I've also heard this VN also features primarily a female protagonist? Very unusual, I don't think I've read/heard of any other VN that does this.

Mmhmm. The protagonist is Aoko Aozaki, the person who gave Shiki his special glasses, if your familiar with Tsukihime. Also the sister of the person who takes care of Shiki Ryougi's fake arm and makes all the creepy dolls in Garden of Sinners.

so are there three series in the same setting and somehow slightly interconnected.

There's a network of tangential character relations that loosely associate most of Type-Moons work, though there's no real iron clad bridges between them. Most crossovers are of-hand mentions, or suggested characters that aren't specifically named.

The same world. Same organizations, same concepts, indirect references to characters from other titles.

Pretty much. Orginizations like the Mage's Association and the Church are omni-present in all. And at the end of the Fate/stay night VN it is HIGHLY suggested (beyond doubt) that Touko Aozaki, Garden of Sinners creepy doll lady, does a...ah, without spoilers, favor, for Shiro.

I never thought I'd see this get released.
I'm really looking foreword to this. It takes place before Touko and Aoko end up hating each other based on the demo and other scans out.

Why was Touko Aozaki in FSN?

She wasn't, its like I said. Something is made for Shiro, and its highly suggested that she's the one who made it.
