Takashi NAKAMURA
Takashi NAKAMURA (SEIYUU) The seiyuu Takashi Nakamura (中村たかし) who has a single credit for Panty & Stocking needs to be split off from the animator Takashi Nakamura (中村隆/なかむらたかし). A page has been created for this person but with (seiyuu) entered manually in the family name field so this either needs to be corrected or deleted (note that, according to the error reports, the character name is incorrect for the current entry under this person - it should be Chuck, not Zipper). Probably this guy: http://www.gosaydo.co.jp/GLove/GL-Pr-M/nakamura-takashi.html Looks to be primarily an actor, but voiced a character in Overman King Gainer. Other references: http://newtype.kadocomic.jp/psg/chara/ http://www.gainax.co.jp/anime/psg/img/psg_chara_r2_c1_f6.jpg edit: Crunchyroll subs use "Chuck" also. |

There's actually another Takashi Nakamura (中村隆) on this profile, who's an art director/background artist. The animator Nakamura's birth name is 中村孝. http://www18.atwiki.jp/sakuga/pages/215.html
I would have to check and see if the animator Nakamura did any background work on Akira. I wouldn't think so since I haven't seen anybody else credit him with that task (either on Anipages, sakuga wiki, his wiki profile...). |

I wouldn't be surprised if the background art credit for Akira came from IMDb - there's a lot of dodgy credits for Akira sourced from there.
I've checked - they have him credited with "chief animator", "background artist: Studio Uni" and "computer graphics artist: High-Tech Labs". |

Okay then, I checked my Akira DVD and there is a "Takashi Nakamura" under Studio Uni. He's been credited with the same task and working for the same company on Doraemon: Nobita to Midori no Kyojin Den, so that's legit.
There is actually a "High-Tech Lab. Japan" company in the credits, but there are only 5 people under that company and none of them are Takashi Nakamura (nor most of the people associated with them on the ANN/IMDB listing). |

Moved the voice credit, but someone needs to untangle the animator from the background artist.

I've split Takashi Nakamura, but this the following two in the same entry temporarily:
Not sure which way to separate the two; Roman numerical maybe? |

I would go with "animator II, GoHands" for 中村貴士 since he's a GoHands employee. "animator III" for 中村隆司.

I've split the inbetweener so now we have inbetweener 1 / inbetweener 2 in addition to animator / background artist / seiyuu
But this does raise the question of how to differentiate people with the same name and same profession. Up to now we've used ad-hoc disambiguations, but I get the feeling we should use something a bit more consistent. Some existing disambiguations: 1990s animator / 2000s animator 1955 / 1982 1 / 2 I / II Aichi-born, A.C.G.T / Hokkaido-born, BONES animator 1 / animator 2 animator 武内啓 / animator 竹内旭 / animator 竹内昭 BG art, J.C.Staff / BG art, Studio Wyeth director; older / director; younger singer, born 1977 / singer, born 1989 |

I think disambiguating based on employer is a mistake. What if Jiro Yamada, Bones animator or Jiro Yamada, Sunrise animator leave and start working for J.C. Staff? (Or if they end up swapping studios, which would be really confusing.) I think it should be a generic 1, 2, ..., or I, II, ..., or something that won't change. Year of birth is the only thing that comes to mind.
Numbering is the best choice in my opinion, as it would ensure that people would be separate. Meaning we won't have a situation with two Jiro Yamada Seiyuu born in 1980, or two Jiro Yamada producers working for Aniplex. But the argument would be that something more meaningful would make it easier to decide which person should get the credit. However, I say that if we have collected enough information showing that there are two Jiro Yamadas, we should have that differentiating information entered as comments or other information. Something like "Sunrise employee as of 2012, not to be confused with Jiro Yamada, the Bones animator" |

I think a simple I, II differentiation is fine and shows no bias other than by date of entry. It's worked for IMDb for years.

I prefer Arabic numerals over Roman numerals. People sometimes have Roman numerals as part of their credited surname, so it just looks better to disambiguate with Arabic numerals in my opinion.

Seconded. Even though I like Roman numerals over Arabic ones per se, but it's not uncommon for people to mistake it as part of surname like EB said. |
