While they do bring in some non-Texas actors remotely, my impression is that the majority of the cast members in their dubs are usually from the Dallas area. And they're non-union, so an increasing number of actors will always be off limits to them. It not really equivalent from a dub produced by a company in LA or elsewhere.
Ah, I guess I should have dug a bit deeper, I only remember seeing Discotek constantly deferring to TMS when talking about the Lupin dubs. In any case, these are ultimately returning casts. I don't think they've ever used a non-Texas studio for their "original" dubs, have they? |

That's a real bummer. I really wanted to see a Toonami-style ad for Gundam: The Witch from Mercury, and what tagline it will be associated with. Like it's a "school of hard knocks" or something. |

They have worked with NYAV for dubbing one of the Memories films and also for fixing a line in the Night of the Galactic Railroad dub. |

I'm very glad its using Texas actors, it's really refreshing for a change so I'm hyped. The Prologue dub was great.

For those who wish that "Turn A Gundam" got an English dub, you're not the only one. I do so,too. I hope it happens someday. I'd really like that.

not surprised that you had that same conclusion as well ! other VAs (like the VA who voiced Miyuki from irregular at magic high) were also in the same mindset and have publicly said on their twitter pages that while they are excited for the cast, they were also disappointed that suletta wasn't being voiced by either a black VA or a gay one considering that this series is supposed to be a clear reference to the revolutionary girl utena yuri OVAs! personally, i could care less. i am just glad it is being dubbed at all because bandai/sunrise could have easily have either............ A) give it the turn a gundam treatment and only have G witch with ZERO English dubs! or B) in the name of cutting costs, they could have given G witch the gundam build fighters treatment and plaster it with the animax asia dubs which for decades have been notoriously BAD! either way, its going to be interesting to see just how will former funi VAs and cast will be able to handle a gundam series considering as stated by many people that a majority of gundam dubs have more or less been taken over by bang zoom ever since ocean studios/the ocean group have either went out of business or is no longer involved in the anime industry altogether considering that there haven't been a VA announcement by them for years now. |

Sunrise doesn't seem to want to work with them, but they're still very much around. Their dubs for Dragon Quest: Adventure of Dai and the new seasons of World Trigger just debuted in the last few months. |

Yep, that's correct. This is the first time I'm probably going to hear a Gundam TV series being handled by Texas-based pool. Speaking of Ocean Group/Blue Water in Canada, I'm kind of surprised Funimation didn't bother to reach out to some of the Ocean Group/Canadian voice actors that previously worked on past Gundam TV series franchise to work on this dub to well "make the dub more interesting and eye-catching" and play fanservice for fans of the Ocean Group's previous Gundam dub. I mean Funimation was able to get Brian Drummond to voiced Clone Vegeta for their Dragon Ball Super dub, and given that Scott Mcneil has done voicework for FMA for Funi, I'm surprised that Funimation didn't bother to reached out to some of them to worked on this particular Gundam series. When Viz Media dubbed Yashahime via Bang Zoom and not Ocean Group, they brought back the Canadian voice actors from Inuyasha to reprise their roles for Yahsahime. Again, it should've been possible for Funimation to maybe have brought some of the Ocean Group/Blue Water VAs to this series line-up as a callback/fanservice to Ocean Group's involvement in Gundam. Oh well, that would've been a nice fanservice for long-time Gundam fans. |
