Yes and if I pre-ordered and paid for the shipping and more importantly if the place I usually order from Rightstuf had received it in their warehouse they would have shipped it out early for me or to anyone that ordered a copy.
I don't know about your comic shops but where I live they usually put books out on street date only or Diamond will get pissed. Online retailers usually get away or most of the time have full permission from the publisher to ship out product early. Street date lets people know that if their is no delays that by such date, a title is available for sale and ready to ship. It's basically a guide when at the latest a item will be available. |

You might want to try emailing [email protected] and [email protected] to make sure the relevant regional editors are aware of this thread.
There are a couple of UK-specific release calendars available on other sites: http://uk-anime.net/Calendar http://www.animeuknews.net/schedule.php The estimable WTK has also started maintaining release date lists over on TFP: http://www.fandompost.com/oldforums/showthread.php?40063-1-amp-Only-UK-Release-Dates-Thread http://www.fandompost.com/oldforums/showthread.php?40055-1-amp-Only-AU-Release-Dates-Thread |

I checked with my comic shop. The owner says that for the vast majority of the titles Diamond ships, that they are able to put it out for sale the Wednesday following shipment. Only occasionally are they asked to hold something, usually because it was shipped in error. Basically the shipping date defines the street date for them. Unfortunately, manga is slightly different. The manga publishers do not all handle their primary distribution though Diamond. Several years ago Viz announced that they were having distribution handled through one of the major US book publishers. Because of that, Diamond usually was one to two weeks behind in distributing Viz titles. I'm not sure what has changed. Possibly Viz changed distributors or the distributor changed how they supplied Diamond. At any rate, for the last two months several Viz titles shipped two weeks before the due date as solicited by Diamond in Previews. The comic shop says they were not asked to hold them. I can't say what happened with TRSI. It is possible they are not getting supplied by Diamond and haven't received shipment yet. It is also possible that they handle preorders in the order received and just haven't gotten to you yet. Viz does tend to ship a lot of their titles the same week causing a bulge in retailers shipments. |
