A more intriguing website update:
The invasion warning with a minor change:
A quick calculation has me at round June 8th. And more source code stuff:
EDIT: After browsing through the AoD forums, a suggestion was brought up to that countdown number was in binary format. I converted it to base ten format with a calculator, and got 7 in return. A one week invasion notice? Perhaps, since 1000 in binary equals 8 in base ten, and one day has gone by. EDIT 2: Remembered that NYCC starts next Saturday, which would be 7 days from now. I watched that AnimeTV video and laughed heartily; not that the dub was spectacularly awful, but that the "review" were so obviously staged/scripted. Perfectly generic and "outsider" comments to the show, talking little of content and much about what KyotoAni "elaborated" on in the anime that isn't in the original novel. It's almost as if someone read the comments of some disgruntled forum-ites and regurgitated recyled criticisms to serve as passable dialogue.
... Did they just call that channel "/a/tv"?! ... Bleach?! As a "best" of all anime? HAHA, OH WOW. ... "No reason to watch this anime. It doesn't suck, and people love it." ... That lot has trouble with pronouncing the names of shows without sounding obnoxious. Haruhi redefines anime in the post-Y2K period? oO; ... Azumanga Daioh's dub looks impressive. Funny, that's not how I remembered it. ^^; ... Now, on dub quality, it's more disappointing that I thought. I didn't expect it to be dismal, but above average; it struck me as average, much like the Tsukihime dub. So..ehh, I need more clips to fully evaluate, but for the most part my preconceptions were pretty much on target. In comparison to other dubs, it's still very good, but it's not exceptional. Not even close to being such. Last edited by Malintex Terek on Sun Feb 18, 2007 3:42 am; edited 1 time in total |

I personally would like to see part of the spoiler[Nagato/Asakura] fight scene or even some entire scenes from the first episode before I make any solid judgments about the dub. What they did show was rather disjointed, and although we can probably make some accurate criticisms of voice talent, I want to see how the characters 'flow' with each other before I condemn it entirely. And I dunno, Wendee Lee just sounds too old to be Haruhi. |

Must not have caught any of Naruto, then. The OP and ED for the English dub are original. However, I agree that they most likely won't redub the Haruhi OP or ED. Both songs are J-pop enough that an English dub would just sound bad, and don't most redubbed OPs and EDs usually involve one of the cast openly singing the song in character? Now, God Knows and Lost My Music I would expect to get the dub treatment, but only on the English dub track, since it is Haruhi openly singing it (maybe with a third audio track just for Live A Live so you can get both the original Japanese songs and the English dub). But anyone who thinks that means the original won't still be on the DVD is just paranoid. And for anyone worrying about licensing issues on the music, please keep in mind that the same company who distributed the series in Japan is the one officially licensing it here. |

I don't have cable, and either way I'm not much of a Naruto fan x) Ooh, what about Koi no Mikuru Densetsu? That will most certainly be dubbed, which really scares me to think about o.o |

After hearing the little bit of the dub I'm not too happy so far. I wasn't too opptimistic after they announced the cast and hearing it now I don't feel any more confident. For me Haruhi is probably the worst so far, she just isn't "Haruhi" to me and is the furthest off from the original also she sounds too old. Though I'm getting tired of hearing Crispin Freeman since he seems to be a lead in half the animes out there they could of done worse for Kyon, but he makes him sound like he's in his mid 30's and that just really annoys me. Can't voice actors make high schoolers sound like high schoolers. I think JYB is the worst voice actor going so I'm not going to like his character and lastly the other two leads I think have hard voices to get really wrong and from the bit I heard they sounded pretty good.
As far as anime tv goes I posted my feelings on it in the talk back section, so I'll just copy and paste that here, to sum it up, it was really really bad.

Looks like the sequel of that live-action version will be Suzumiya Hahiru no Shoushitsu, adapted from the 4th novel. Source (the personal blog of a porn star; no pornography inside).

Yotsuba told me earlier today there's a "Gaé Blog" from an allegedly Japanese reviewer of the AnimeTV podcast, commenting on the Haruhi dub clips. Apparently, it's listed on the MySpace account...? It has been translated, apparently. Any verification on this?

Yup, that is correct. Kyon posted a link to the Japanese review of the dub on his myspace:

And it appears that Haruhi is indeed thinking this:
And an unknown person's reaction to this revelation (from the source code):
EDIT: More source code...

Positively pa-thetic. As if an "authentic" Japanese person would care all that much about the Haruhi dub; not considering the differences in what the Japanese look at in what we in the English speaking world do (I'm thinking back to when Yotsuba 'invaded' 2chan), that "analysis" sounds very much like an English-language native speaker writing in Japanese, with Bandai capitalizing on it being written in a foreign language to add "legitimacy" to their selections; heck, the translation even mentions Alucard. This is simmilar to an incident I hear of where a reporter asked a seventh generation man of Latino descent what it feels like to live in Mexico. For shame. |

Hmm... did you take a look at the rest of that Japanese site? It's pretty huge, and covers a lot of recent anime. I'm not sure I can agree with your assumptions on it, seeing as yours seem to be rather unfounded. So what if someone who claims to be Japanese mentions Alucard? Are you saying that no one would ever care about how one of their favorite shows is dubbed in a different language? That's a pretty extreme thing to say, founded on such little substance.
