Another past example was 'Wicked City'; the anime movie came out in the late '80s, followed by a live-action remake from Hong Kong in the early '90s.
And honestly, I have more faith in the Hong Kong movie industry to adapt action-packed anime than I do in Hollywood .... |

Off-topic, another interesting trend is when manga series are adapted into live action movies. The first example that comes to my mind is Oldboy, a Korean movie based on a Japanese comic ....

I have to admit, despite my general opposition to the idea, if James Cameron got license to make an Evangelion film, with a budget and didn't Americanize it I would be very excited. Still love to see Hugh Laurie playing Gendo
A live action Hellsing would be one of the easier anime series to adapt- violence, blood, vampires, England, cute vampire protagonist (I'm talking 'bout Seras not Alucard mkay) . For a truly terrible idea why not... Azumanga Daioh The Live Action Movie! Coming soon Sakaki could be emo! Tomo a stereotypical airhead! Kaorin ignored and Osaka only Osaka in name. However I wouldn't say no to an animated movie. |

James Cameron was without a doubt one of the best Directors in American Cinema, though honestly in recent years I have to wonder if he's lost his touch. His earlier movies were one of the few I can remember that showed you could have a flashy action movie but with real characters, that had real personalities and real drama. Unfortunately after Titanic all I've seen him make was dissappointing personally. Honestly I seriously lost faith in him after seeing him spew insults at the idea of an Aliens Versus Predator movie. EVA has to be handled by new talent, WETA seems set to take care of the visual side of things, but unless someone as vigilant as peter jackson, or, as suggested David Cronenberg does it, I'd worry. The biggest problem is that very few if any directors have been able to make a movie based on an existing franchise without changing the story majorly from the original to adapt it to suit audiences. While I understand the need to make money, no film that did not begin as a film has been able to actually stay true to its source and make any real box office dollars. This means that in the end, someone is going to get pissed off, who will be is the question. |

Anything is possible! I welcome any idea that can work! (I still vote for Keira Knightly for Seras Victoria. May not have the chest but damn if she don't have the legs.) |

Really? For example, did the 'Lord of the Rings' and 'Harry Potter' movies truly betray their source material? |

There is talk of a Iron Man, The Flash, and Green Latern Movie. Also a superman vs Batman movie and that is something we all have been waiting for. |

I've seen this before, and it's a fake trailer (though fairly well made). |

Yes, yes, I know about all of that (only one I actually know about though is the Iron Man movie). I was actually refering to how I think with Marvel and DC getting live action movies, that it wouldn't be so bad to maybe have some Shounen Jump ones. Speaking of which, another director for a Shounen Jump movie I just came up with recently to ad to my list from my other post would be Stephen Sommers (The Mummy 1&2, The Scorpion King, Van Hellsing) who's style I think would be pretty good for a D.Gray-Man live action movie. |

Hellsing would be good along with Gantz but as for Hellsing they have to make Alucard cgi and nothing else I don't see a male actor pulling off the look of Alucard and do it justice. |

Uh, not me. Any movie that actually takes that battle seriously would be over within a few seconds. It's like having a 'domestic cat vs. sabretooth tiger' movie; what's the point?! |

I don't know, I think it's possible. Hollywood may be a corrupt business worried more about pleasing their pockets than pleasing their audience, but they ARE capable of producing a good movie. Hellsing can ge awesome in the RIGHT HANDS. (Also, who else would want to see Alan Rickman as Walter? Anyone? I can't be the only one.) |
