I can totally understand the compression between dogs and gangsta but I think nicolas and the very strong character focus of gangsta make it different from dogs (based on what I know).
Also there are plenty of police and other law keeping groups (the families) in gangsta keeping law and order down pact. they are also just perfectly fine with murdering people without a trial is all LOL.
