Wow! DEEN is really giving it a go with their series recently.
Great news, this show definitely deserved the season 2 green-lit.

Not surprised given the manga is ending in a few months. This was probably planned quite a while ago because the Blu-ray sales and manga sales weren't really that good.

I like this trend of adapting a manga as it is ending, giving us viewers of getting a proper conclussion to the story.
After seeing that disks sales weren't so great I lost hope on a second season, but I'm glad my fear was unfounded!

That's good to know. The show involved some mature plot and elements that aren't very common these days.

What? Not only do we get a josei TV anime series, we get one that is getting a second season? This show just went from "rare phenomenon" to "almost unprecedented". (And I'm very happy about it )

The executive producers were from King Records, Kodansha, and MBS respectively. Deen just controls the pipeline of drawings to video.
King Records is kind of weird at times regarding numbers and such, so it's not incredibly surprising. Perhaps CD sales were better than expected and were able to help cover costs.
