Nice, how about a Heaven's Feel route next, Type/Moon, to finish things off.

Anyone who watches this without having played the VN is pretty much going to be lost. Even if you've seen the TV series, you're still going to be somewhat lost.
That said, the action scenes were awesome. Even if there were a few setbacks, it was much better than I expected out of Deen.

I can confirm this. Having not played the VN, I really had no idea what was going on. I guess that's what happens when you try to shove that much content into a 105 minute movie.
But yeah, at least the actions scenes were amazing.

Well the VN does have an encyclopedia site...
And being the 2nd route of the VN, you would have to know something about the first route.
Rin is my favorite female character so I'm happy it did so well. Now can we get this in R1? Pretty please.

The third route's protag isn't as popular.
Just head straight to Fate/ hollow ataraxia and then Fate/Zero.

I had heard that at Geneon Universals AX panel this year they hinted Funimation would be the distributor for the UBW film.
Can anyone who was there confirm this?

This movie was awesome I just couldn't help myself from watching it as soon as I saw it was available, I didn't watch the VN but was able to keep up with the series since I've read up on paths and stories.
I agree we need Heaven's feel movie sometime soon thou I doubt we will, but I hope a Blu Ray version of this comes out to America next year (want to say this year but that won't happen)
movie was just that awesome and as always Archer is the coolest!

It's not even a matter of being lost if you haven't played the VN, the movie can only work at all if you've played that route. Stand alone is impossible. Good visuals and fun to watch, but very sloppy construction and scene progression. I can't recommend it to any except NasuVerse fans, whom it was most likely made for. There is absolutely no wide appeal to this title, so it probably won't see any theater runs. Even if you've seen the TV anime, the movie is so poorly tied together that it will seem as if 40 minutes of exposition were cut out.

It's the Fate route you need to know for this to make sense, was fine without knowing much of UBW. The problem being there isn't an anime of Fate, as the series is a total mess.

Knowing Type Moon is practically a prerequisite to being an otaku in Japan, so it shouldn't be a surprise that this movie was so sloppily put together and still sold like mad. It was effectively a 90 minute action montage featuring all the greatest fight scenes from the UBW story arc.
That being said, I look forward to a Heaven's Feel movie or OVA that's not produced by Studio Deen.

Fate/stay Night is by far the best selling TV series Studio DEEN has ever done. There's no way they're giving that up!
