I'll pre-order this from Japan as I'm kind of skeptical that any North American distributors would license a half-hour Ah My Goddess one-shot after that post-2nd AMG TV series one-shot TV special also remains unlicensed.
Hopefully, it'll tie-in to the TV series continuity with most of the cast and crew from the TV series returning. |

Yep and it's still ongoing too. I'm hoping that maybe Funimation will pick this up and the Tatakau Tsubasa specials in bundle. Since they picked up the rights for the old ADV Season 2 set. As for the OVA itself, I wonder what happened to that 7 minute OVA they were supposedly putting the repackaged Season 1 set in japan? This sounds like something entirely different. |

The mere fact that American publishers don't offer such good crap in their wares chips away my faith in them a little more. Del Rey, what about the Negima! OAV's with the English Negima Manga's? HUH? |

If it's any consolation, Funimation got the Tsubasa OADs, and they likely will get the Negima ones too. As far as this goes...that depends on whether or not Funi or some other company can get it and the two other specials. |

Probably if everyone bought all AMG related material like mad, causing a reason for FUNi to look at bringing more material over. |

Yeah, I'm hoping for a OVA collection too like Tsubasa is getting. If FMA and Lucky Star get their own OVA disks (even if LS was Bandai), why not something as popular as AMG? I'll buy it!

manga is more popular than anime in japan; it makes sense. north american anime distributors bundle toys and manga volume in with anime dvds. don't really care about more ah! my goddess getting animated, as the anime versions never seem to live up to the style and writing of the manga, but i guess more fanfare for my favorite manga series is always a good thing. |

Awesome, even if it's just an OVA. Still as mentioned above we still need AMG: Fighting Wings here too.

If that drawing of Belldandy is a sample of what the design will be, it won't matter one copper penny if it gets licensed or not to me. It looks like a fan art drawing.

Hopefully it's just fanart... |

I think it's just a sketch by Mr. Gohda. With luck, he's got his whole crew back, including character designer Hidenori Matsubara.

I was a fan of Aa Megami-sama for a long time, but this is just meh. The manga has been dragged for too long, it lacks interesting plot, any point or any set goal for that matter. Magical girlfriend genre has been used in different ways by different artists since AMS first came out so it's just not as good anymore...
And while manga still has quite a number of intersting stories to tell, all they make is just one OVA which will probably be a treat to die hard fans of the series, but barely passable otherwise. Ranma 2008 anyone? |
