They're actually releasing the whole show for $30 in August. Honestly, I feel bad for those who paid $100+ for the two sets. |

You are not alone, brother. I got completely fed up with all the forced badassery and pseudo-manly posturing by the submarine episode, and everything after the time skip was one face palm after another. This show was just bad. It tries too hard and even the art style is completely ripped off from (oh whoops I mean lovingly pays homage to) New Getter Robo. It ties with Lucky Star as the worst anime ever to become a phenomenon. |

I'm tempted to go with RahXephon for the title of "most disappointing." I mean, I normally like harem comedies to some extent, but RX really wasted its potential by spending too much time on its secondary components: boring mecha battles and nonsensical psuedo-Aztec-whatever mysticism. |

I ended up buying the first two "parts" of the first FMA series, and then the entire "second season" set.
I remember back in the day of anime VHS tapes when you almost had no choice but to watch anime English dubbed. Sure, you could find tapes with the Japanese audio and subtitles, but they could be rare. In some cases, anime fans had to beg and plead to get the Japanese track, because a lot of companies used to assume people only wanted to watch things in their native language. And the reason is that, largely, that's true. My own personal philosophy is that, while there are some great English dubs out there, anime is foreign film, and best watched in its native language, preferably with good subtitles. However, I'm not naive. English dubs help sell the product, help sell it to more people, because people largely want to watch things in their own native tongue. It's not even a matter of taste most of the time, but of convenience. Unlike me, a lot of folks don't even really care if the Japanese track has the better performances, they just want to watch the show. That was the general attitude back in the day where dubs weren't very good at all, so I can understand it a bit more now that dubs are a lot better in general. I might add to the Flake that I'm not popular in the least. But maybe that was his point! Did he have a point? But speaking of my popularity, I wonder if Ben ever read my article on the third Tenchi Muyo OVA, because we seem to share a lot of opinions on it. Then again, from what I can gather, there are a lot of people who felt the same. I'm tired of being told "Well, if you had read the novels, you would have gotten it better", for one. I should not have to read books to watch a cartoon. It is a failure of the creator if he can't introduce the audience to the concepts in the books in a way that people who hadn't read them could pick up the third installment right from the second one and make perfect sense of it. That third Tenchi OVA probably is the most disappointing anime to me, too. Well, other than Tytania. Which was just licensed. I hope the poor fools who check it out aren't expecting a lot. |

For people here to deny you're at least recognizable is pointless, I know you and I can think, 'Oh, I've seen him post before' much in the same way I can recall who blood- and marioak12345 and others I've forgotten the names of. Aside from the staffers for ANN itself, I don't think anyone is popular. There are no groups, cliques, clubs or ANYTHING on ANN last I checked, outside of subscribers and the little group of 'regulars' that are in threads for specific anime and manga discussions, they again they're just people who regularly visit the threads of their choice. To imply that there are popular users outside of the staff... Well, to even suggest someone on here is appreciated to the point of being slapped with a label like 'popular' just seems asinine to me. Outside of maybe my small bit of favoritism to Theron if only because I think his tastes in anime and mine are similar, I see the staff members as the people in charge... Outside of that, nothing more. They're people on the internet, nothing worth worshiping. That's not to say I don't like anyone here, but when does liking a user on the forum translate to popularity? I don't see you having your own fanclub or anything penguin. xD No hard feelings of course. I do honestly want to see what this comment of his was. Not because I want to see him be validated, but because I think it would provide me with much entertainment and laughter. Or at least make me roll my eyes in ironic amusement. Granted, I doubt this will ever happen but unless it was really, REALLY horrible I don't think it's something people here couldn't handle. |

Since somebody mentioned Prince of Darkness, it's time for the obligatory Blank of Three Years link!

In this day and age it seems like they'd be happy that you are doing what you love and didn't get into a huge amount of debt getting there. Don't get me wrong, I think education is important, but there are so many people saddled with student loan debt out there. As for Big Windup, I'm probably one of the few people out there who pre-ordered both part 1 and part 2 of the series. I'm hoping against hope that Sentai might pick up season 2 like they did with Hell Girl. |

Re: School Days:
To be fair, School Days wasn't an original series. It was an adaptation of an eroge which was notorious for its difficult gameplay and plethora of shocking endings. I've never played the game (and have no desire to do so!), but I get the feeling that the anime stayed true to both the spirit of the game and the expectations of the Japanese viewers. It may have looked innocent, but check out ANN's encyclopedia entry: spoiler[Genres: comedy, drama, horror, psychological, romance, slice of life Themes: ecchi, ecchi (nudity), harem, school, tragedy Objectionable content: Intense (graphic depictions of sex, drug use, or bloodshed)] And, yes, even having some idea of what I might be in for, I, too, was traumatized by this series. |

awesome, and rightstuf is selling it for $22.49 well I guess I'm one of those who waits, lol. I actually spend more money in total that way, but it works out to be a better value. I buy a fair amount of the Viridian sets and all of the S.A.V.E. sets, including Shattered Angels in August which I was NOT planning on buying because Funimation decided to exclude the 6 short bonus episodes However since it's only $14.99, I thought, ah what the hell, might as well pick it up. |

Well, actually that dialogue from Casshern would have went something like that.
Robot in Ruin: You are Casshern! You are the one who caused the ruin! Casshern: Yes, it is I, Casshern, who caused the ruin. RiR: Rumours say, when I eat you, Casshern, I will overcome the ruin. So this I will do, I will devour you alive, Casshern! Casshern: Yes, devour me alive. For I have caused the ruin and shouldn't be allowed to live. RiR: Yes, you shouldn't be allowed to live. So I will tear you apart with my own hands. Casshern: Yes, tear me apart with your own hands, before they also fall victim to the ruin that I have created. RiR: And for that ruin that you have created I will tear you apart and eat you. Casshern: Yes, eat me. For I shouldn't be allowed to live. And they happily repeat each others line until Casshern switches to amuk mode, as described. |

Thanks Zalis116, I didn't realize that Funi had to take MP and SA as part of a pckage deal with Funi to get what they really wanted from them. Do you know if there is still anything else Funi has not come out with yet, but will have to release from ADV?

I agree with you wholeheartedly, but if someone was going in expecting either a straight up action series or an entire series with content similar to episode 8 with the song and all, I can see how they might be disappointed. The show has action but it's more a meditation on life and death. And I loved it |
