Does anyone have information regarding the release dates of the two last volumes of this excellent manga/anime? Or are they already released?
I watched the anime and then decided to buy the first manga volume. I read it and enjoyed it more than its anime counterpart. But to my horror this first volume was just recently released.

Vol 2 is 8-03-04
vol 3 is 10-12-04
A word of warning though. As you will have noticed, the manga is simply a really condensed version of the anime.
Reading Vol 2 (Banner of the Stars/Seikai no Senki 1) and Vol 3 (Banner of the Stars 2/Seikai no Senki 2) will spoil the anime series, if you haven't seen all 3 seasons.
I adore the Trilogy in both forms (hopefully, some day in novel form as well). It seems kind of strange to have Lafiel being more emotional in the manga though .

Yeah, as I said, I've watched the trilogy and now having read the first manga volume, it has a different kind of entertainment value. There is simply more jokes.
Lafiel being different is strange, as you say, but it's not bad
Is the anime adapted from the manga or is it the other way around?

Which, like the anime, are probably better than the manga.

i wish they would bring some Japanese novels over here, rather than just Battle Royale (which disapointed me). Sekai Trilogy, Vampire Hunter D, Junni Kokki (Twelve Kingdoms), and Scrapped Princess are all based on novels

And Boogiepop. I really want to read the Boogiepop novels. Legend of the Galactic Heroes is based on a series of books too, but they'll probably never be released stateside.
Kagemusha, did you read Battle Royale before or after you saw the movie? I read it before and thought it was incredible, but I can't imagine anyone who knows how it all turns out managing to get through it.

both read and seen the movie. i just felt it was...i dont know how to describe it. it was good, but i was expecting more. didn't like the writing. i had just read an incredible novel called Hyperion, so i was kind of critical at the time. the social commentary was great though.
never knew Boogiepop was based on a novel though. that would be interesting

Regarding Boogiepop: Last I counted there were a dozen Boogiepop novels plus several other 'side-stories' set in the same time/idea.
As far as Morioka Hiroyuki's Seikai novels (there are at least 6) and they have won sci-fi awards.
Note: I noticed today (at Borders) that someone has translated and released the original Japanese 'ring' novel that inspired the Japanese trilogy and the US version and the manga. Go check it out!
