Dear god, of all shows to get a sequel, it's THIS one?

What the hell, Japan.

According to Yasuda, this new anime will be a "reset." It will not continue the earlier TV anime; instead, it will remake and follow the manga more closely than the TV anime did.

I like how people don't read lol. I actually liked this show, I havn't read the manga but it's usually better in most cases so hopefully this new anime will be better. I also hope it has better theme songs because the first one had some really nice ones and if they're worse this time that would be sad. but same cast? win. can't wait to have more Miyuki Sawashiro going "DADADADADADADA"

lol at those for not being able to read the article clearly.

That aside, I do agree that out of all shows, why should this show deserve a remake to follow its original when there are a number of other series out there that were more successful and yet don't get a sequel let alone a remake of the same treatment?

I love how people don't bother checking the article history to see that an article has been changed from its first post.

Notice the text that's written in green...

Was a decent series but was it really popular enough to deserve a remake, especially with the short time period between the original series airing?
Like people have said, much more popular series out there that deserve this treatment and yet nothing.
Ah well, can't complain as I'll probably watch it.

So wait, are they pulling a FMA and starting a new TV series from the start or packaging OVA's with the manga like Negima!?

I'm not too surprised given how Durarara!! seems to so popular at the moment. (Yozakura Quartet is by the same artist.)

I'll admit it; I'm surprised.

I loved the manga and I did watch the first few episodes of the anime to discover that it wasn't following it completely, not that's bad or anything. I should just finish it so I can be prepared for this second series. Has FMA started a trend?

Yozakura Quartet is great. I love the manga, it has such a feel to it, that I just dont get from other manga. So I am happy to see it is getting a remake, and I hope it goes on for more than 12 episodes.

In other words. Yay, good news! I feel this series has alot of potential to be very popular.

Let's hope this version is significantly better than the first one, because that was the very definition of mediocre. Is there really a demand for this? I continue to be baffled by what gets produced in Japan and what doesn't.

Suzuhito Yasuda only did the original character designs for the Durarara!! novel and wasn't involved in the manga or anime (aside from being credited for the designs) so I have a hard time believing that was a factor.

It probably has more to do with someone seeing potential in the ongoing manga's story line, I'm sure it has advanced a lot since the first anime went into production some two years ago. Not just potential as an anime, but also its merchandise potential (which the original anime was rather light on considering the large female cast). So expect the Fall to bring everything from statues, to mini-figures, to those micro-fiber towels that are extremely popular in Japan and I'm at a loss as to what people actually do with them...

I rather liked the original anime so I'm looking forward to a reboot of the series.

Translation: The first anime sucked and I didn't like it, so we're doing it over again with a better production and more of the way I wanted it.

Well, that's my interpretation, anyway. Even if it's not to that extreme, I can't blame him for wanting an adaptation of his work to be closer to the source and done better. If he wants a do-over and more involvement, then he is well within his rights to do so. I'm definitely looking forward to how it all shapes up.
