Huh. I dunno about Harlock (better have some great writers), but Gaiking could work - it should be interesting to see what comes of this.

Harlock would do better as a live-action film with a bunch of practical special effects. Do the whole things minimal I say. Matsumoto's works are so underutilized.

Interesting. I just bought Captain Harlock: The Final Voyage (through the Rightstuf Bargain Bin. Can't go wrong with a complete series for 16 bucks I say) Cause I like old school space opera, and Harlock seems about as old school as it comes.
So my interest in the CG film will depend on how well I like that series I guess! EDIT: Also my friend at work is probably going to go bonkers over the Gaiking movie, he loved Force Five growing up. (you should have seen he's eyes bug out when I should him the trailer for the up coming live action Space Battleship Yamato movie. He's a huge Starblazers fan too) |

As long as they have great stories they should be awesome Harlock and Gaiking must blaze the path of the New Anime revolution!!!!!

Japan is continuing to finally get into the CG film bandwagon.
That's stretching the meaning of "several" right there, unless they instead mean millions of dollars.

CG for anime still looks really awkward to me. Unless it's movie budget productions like FFVII, we end up with extreme uncanny valley like how MS IGLOO did it. Really, I'm not sure that CG really benefits character designs for anime, I like anime for being 2d. |
