Everybody, and Halo Fans. The voice cast for Halo Legends has been announced. Here's the cast list. It looks like ADV and Funimation's voice actor are involved with this anime anthology. What do you guys think?

WTF, why aren't Steve Downes (Master Chief) and Jen Taylor (Cortana) reprising their roles?

Jen Taylor and Steve Downes must be busy doing Halo:Reach or probably some other project. I don't know. Shelly-Calene Black wasn't bad as Cortana (I thought Tara Platt or Kira Vincent Davis would do a better job for Cortana). I don't know about Master Chief's voice. I would've like Steve Blum to do Master Chief. But hey, the guy who voice Dutch from Halo 3: ODST voice his anime incarnation Very Happy . Although, I would've like the Halo Legends anime voice actor to have been a collaboration like seeing NYAV Post, Funi's voice actor, Bang Zoom!, and Ocean Group VAs working together. I guess we'll have to wait until Sony and Nintendo adapt some of their western game into anime, and maybe likely if EA adapt Mass Effect into anime, that would get all the anime VAs togather. Same thing for a Fallout anime.

Well, I'm cool with someone else voicing Cortana, but I just can't accept MC being voiced by anyone else than Downes. Heck, that smooth, calm and confident voice of his was pretty much the only bit of personality that the 'Chief had going for him!

Yeah the voice of Chief (John) is different from the games so I had to draw on my knowledge of the books to feel him more. One of the best parts that have been done has been the inclusion of Fred and Kelly, some of their parts reminded me of the books and action was superb with them.

Though I was suprised at such a young looking and sounding Dr Halsey.

Seraphim did fly out some actors from LA for the dub, including David Matranga. So my guess is that he wasn't available to do Master Chief for whatever reason, or wasn't willing to travel for it. ADV was able and willing to get the VA for Dante in Devil May Cry, so I don't imagine they would have had a problem getting one for Halo.

Regardless, MC's role is suppose to be relatively minor in the DVD, so I'm not too worried about it. They assembled an excellent cast and I can't wait to hear it.

However, I found this tidbit rather interesting:

Emily Neves “Spartan” in The Babysitter
Emily Neves is a Company Artist at The Alley Theatre in Houston, Texas. Emily has appeared locally in commercials and as a voice artist in The Legend of the Dark King (Reina), Clannad (Kotomi), and Kiba (Karen).

Perhaps Sentai is making good on the idea of going back and dubbing certain shows after all.....
