Not a great start to the "roll-out riot"... If they're saving the best for last....it better be something cosmic.

I suppose I'd be excited if I was a martial arts movie fan. It's not even live-action that's based on an anime.

What the hell? Is this the big announcement they have been talking about?

Dohohoho
Honestly, I'd find it hilarious if this were the whole Roll-out Riot. But I'm sure it isn't, so more anime is undoubtedly to follow. Win-win.

This is pointless. I know there are people who care about stuff like this out there and will probably be excited to hear about it. But it's NOT the people who were waiting on baited breath to see what was going to be announced from the Roll Out Riot.
Look at all the comments so far on The FUNI blog and this forum post and nearly no one cares and most of the comments are flat out negative. This should have been a random press relese unrelated to the roll out riot.

Yeah!
Sure it's not anime, but I always welcome HK martial arts movies from the Shaw Brothers.
A darn shame that they don't make movies like those anymore.

Not anime, not interested. I hope Funimation doesn't stretch themselves too far with these arbitrary licenses...

Shaw Brothers films are some of the best martial arts films ever made. If this helps them get some more income outside of anime, then I'm all for it. You need to adapt to stay afloat and I know most live action genres--even martial arts--generally sell better than anime.
I bet the majority of Mediablasters and Animeigo's income comes from their live action genre films.
As long as they don't make a total shift in that direction, extra income on the side is always good. God knows anime isn't exactly big business these days.

There's still 4 more days, one announcement each day.

There's more to life than anime, guys. Almost all of the R1 companies, past and present have delved into Asian live-action films and series in some fashion. At least they announced these films all at once, leaving the rest of the week free.

I'd be more excited if they announced a blu-ray version to be released same day as the dvd.

I can agreed with this, but DVD releases are better than nothing.
Seriously, I'm gettting PO'd at nearly every forum I've been to; all the "diehard anime" fans are crying in a corner about this!
Not like, even with all their licenses besides FUNi is making a butt load of cash, so they've got to delve more into other markets.
And as a Late 60's to Mid 70's Martial Arts film fan, I'm completely stoked.
SB ftw!

And...the internet is on fire. EVERYONE RUN!
*hides in his underground hiding place until this blows over*
Honestly, I'm not THRILLED with this, I don't know these movies, but I like the announcement non-the-less. Yes, it's not anime, but it's martial-arts flicks. Those can be cool too ya' know.
