As awesome as I'm sure this will be, I wish Matsumoto was working on the new Yamato instead.

An anime music video for "Bohemian Rhapsody?" In a space opera style? That sounds ridiculously awesome.

Raise your hand if you saw this headline and at first thought, "Wait, Elizabeth II is getting an anime music video?" The band Queen getting a Leiji Matsumoto vid for Bohemian Rhapsody is awesome, but I think it will fail to live up to what I imagined in that brief moment.

I agree, I thought they MIGHT have meant Queen, the band, but I also thought at the same time, "Or do they mean the Queen of England...?"

As nice as this song is, I'd prefer to have seen Tie your Mother Down or Fat Bottomed Girls receiving the anime treatment.
(I suspect that ecchi isn't quite the sort of thing for which Matsumoto is hired, however.)

Nonetheless, one wonders how the 'Galileo' section will be handled.

It'd have been cool if this video had been done in time to include in the Singstar Queen game (which I own on PS2, though it's also on PS3), but the Nintendo Wii connection would have made that pretty much impossible.

It's not the first time Queen has had an anime connection: guitarist Brian May (along with fellow Queen member Roger Taylor, Eddie Van Halen and some other people) did a cover version of the theme tune to Star Fleet, which was the Westernised version of a puppet-based anime from the late '70s created by Go Nagai. (Star Fleet was released in the UK on DVD for the first time earlier this year.)

Never mind that the woman in the art/manga panel kind of look like a genetic combination of Maetel and Emeraldas.

Obviously you haven't seen any of his other work.

I mean seriously. I have alot of his japanese manga and frankly, it seems like Mirazier Ban -no wait- Tochiro -no wait- Tetsuro ... wait ... Wadachi? .... okay ... all his short squat characters look nearly exactly alike. And his elegant beauties? The same. Shinunora, Maetel, Emeraldas, *insert character here* ...

But he still owns at drawing the best mech stuff ever. Seriously. Just pick up the manga of Galaxy Express and wow at the train, then wonder and those little squiggles beside it ...

*Raises hand* It would have been awesome if Leiji had also dedicated the music video to Oueen Elizabeth II. Cool
