Would have liked Gainax to come up with some new plot for the movie rather than just making the whole series into a movie, but then again, it's hard to make a plot for awesome than the one in the series.

Still, I think temptation will have the better of me, and I'll probably end up watching the 2nd movie like I did with the 1st one as well.

On a totally irrelevant note: If you utter crazy speeches, wear insanely impractical glasses, and make cool poses - They will make a statue in memory of you!

Ah, Kamina, spoiler[even in death, you still bathe us in your epicness.]

[Mod Edit: Tagged spoilers. - Keonyn]

I am not a fan, really I'm not.

But I will say this: I've known about that for weeks since I live in San Francisco and go to Japan Town all the time... I actually went twice this week. Once with a friend the other the other because I had a Doctor's appointment a few blocks away and I thoguht "why not". I even saw the previews when I saw Naruto Shippuden the Movie which was a couple weeks ago! I think this site really needs to get on it's game when it comes to New People! Come on!

Since they used "The Lights in the Sky are Stars" for the last episode and the second movie, I wonder if it's a reference to the Fredric Brown novel. "Childhood's End" is a little more obvious as a nod to the Clarke novel.

I obviously won't be able to see this in its debut, but I'm looking forward to checking it out one day. The new content I've heard about in this movie sounds boffo cool.

The question I'd like to ask New People... so when are you going to show anime movies on the weekends? I would have come out to see Naruto Shippuden movie 1 and would go to see Gurren Lagann 2, but weekdays are not a good time.

I am happy that it'll be out here though. Went to see the Bleach movie at New People since it was still summer at the time, but the school year has started... dunno, maybe I can see if I can make an exception.

So these movies are just re-tellings of the series?

Curious why they have not come out on DVD in the US yet, maybe that is why. Even though those Death Note: Re-Light things are basically the same thing...

It's a compilation. The movie felt kinda rushed, and I'd take the series over the movie without any doubts. If you bought the series, I'd say it's not worth buying the movie.

I originally posted it on the anime board a couple of days ago before it got moved to the events area, and I might as well post it here again.

for those who are far from San Francisco, you can demand for both of these movies to hit in your area

Lagann-hen is completely different from Gurren-hen when it comes to new content, actually:

-Script was been rewritten with a new focus to give the movie a flavor completely different from the TV show.
-70 minutes of original animation unique for the movie
-Final battle is completely redone
-All-new mechanic designs such as Nia's Solvernia or Yoko's Yoko SP

The trailer posted in the article features scenes from the TV show that aren't even in the movie!
