Cool, happy to hear about more Bakemonogatari; not only that, but that ratings have been good enough to allow the animation of said episodes.
Add: Shock! Actual footage previews as opposed to those mini-skits that accompanied the TV episodes? |

Very good news...I know of more than one ANNer who will be delighted to get confirmation of an actual release date for the next episode. I wonder if the remaining two will be released weekly after the upcoming one?

Well SHAFT can only earn oodles of brownie points by doing something like this. Not only did they secure three extra episodes (a very critical factor considering the type of show Bakemonogatari is), they are releasing them soon after the end of the broadcast run and for free on their official website. I don't think anyone is going to be unhappy at the goodwill SHAFT has expressed. After the debacle of the "second season" of Haruhi, a company being this accommodating to its fans is just awesome.

I have to agree with dtm42 about this, I don't think anyone should complain.
Actually if they did something more viral like Radiohead did with their album I would have gladly paid x amount and download it from their website, this way I know that what I'm paying goes directly to the creators. |

I agree 100%, nowadays the animation companies care more about DVD sales and betraying actual plot for nonsensical ecchi fanservice. Take Rosario + Vampire for example, GONZO cared more about presenting a million panty shots than telling the actual story, this was done because GONZO is in financial trouble and needs to sell DVDs, and as we all know, nothing sells better than sex. As for KyoAni they RUINED the Haruhi series, they presented the same episode 8 excruciating times and its unlikely that fans will EVER forgive them. In my book what SHAFT is doing is truly amazing and can only gain a lot of support from fans, Bakemonogatari has been one of the best anime this year, and in order to complete the story they have gone out of their way to show the final 3 episodes online for FREE. |

As much as I like Bakemonogatari, please don't bash Haruhi for wrong reasons. Every Haruhi episode of the re-run was shown for free in the Kadokawa-Channel on YouTube and they even put subtitles on the Japanese DVDs. Something that SHAFT / Aniplex didn't do for Bakemonogatari. Everybody also forget that streaming the episode for free on the net is cheaper than buying the broadcasting slot to air the episode on TV....
They want to sell DVDs/Blu-rays and the TV and Net broadcast are just advertisement. |

No man, as much as I love KyoAni, they F*@!ing ruined Haruhi. Anyone can bash them as much as they want for that screw up, who in their right mind would by the "2nd Season" of Haruhi? Subbed or not... |

It's not like I haven't been watching the first 12 episodes for free anyway.
"Good will" you say, that's probably true. Let's hope more companies are able to do that. |

Now lets hope the prequel and sequels are to follow; and it should've been 24 episode series in the first place... no, mere 15 episodes is not nearly enough(at least someone is complaining ).

Prequel announced to be animated in 2010, stated in a leaflet included with Vol 1 of the DVD/Blu-ray release. |

Yeah, but you have to admit, streaming them for free is much better than attempting to charge fans to watch them. Oh sure, the end result would be the same for most people. One person would pay and capture the video, then spread it on the Internet, and people like you and me wouldn't have to pay at all. However, that would annoy everyone, and would be the exact kind of annoying move that sometimes befouls the corporate types. SHAFT has gone the good-guy route, even it it doesn't change the outcome for us fansub-watchers, and I hope Bakemonogatari fans everywhere will reward them with strong DVD sales.
I'm sure SHAFT lobbied for twenty-four to twenty-six episodes, but you can only work within the budget and timeslot given to you. Well, not so much the timeslot as this case exemplifies, but money only goes so far. |

Awesome. More Bakemonogatari is good news for me and I'm sure many a fan out there. This is a unique experience based on my knowledge, but I'm sure other companies have tried similar moves before. I'd really like to see this series picked up and brought to the R1.

YAY! But man, 3+ weeks is a long wait. .^^;; Really looking forward to the new episodes!
Now everyone go vote Kamiya Hiroshi for the Seiyuu Awards' Overseas award!! Can't vote for him for Best Actor or Support Actor anymore since he already won those. Overseas is the only one left! |
