Huh, I keep hearing really good things about this series. But I'm usually not a big fan of Magical Girls...

Try it and see if you like it, there's no harm in that
Argh, this review is making me wish my copy that apparently only shipped a few days ago would be sitting in my lap right now D:

Darn I should of looked for it. I was just at the bookstore!
Oh well, I'll be getting my hands on this no matter what. I love this series.
Also neocloud9- You should try it out. It definitely has it's magical girl side, but the manga also works fairly well as a normal slice of life romance comedy. Like mentioned, there are some volumes that have little-to-no magical girl fighting at all.

Anyone notice that Amu-chan is holding the number of fingers coresponding to the manga volume? Wonder what they will do if the series reaches Vol. #11 .
Anyway I'm hoping Borders have the book in stock today. Series is starting to get very interesting now .

I can't wait until I get this manga. Nagi and Ikuto are two of my favorite characters (I also love Kukai, who hasn't been showing up enough recently in the anime).

She start using her toes as well, I'd bet. Either that or she'll magically grow an additional finger.

This review was spot-on.
There's just something about Shugo Chara! that makes it so addictive...I can't stop watching/reading it. I'll have to pick up this volume soon. Speaking of the cover,it's incredibly adorable (but then again, all the Shugo Chara! covers are adorable).

I think the manga version of Amu looks more like the age she's supposed to be than the anime version. It makes the situation that much more obvious (and thus creepier) when Ikuto is flirting with her. Awkward hilarity, yay.

I hear that at some point this series goes the way of Higurashi No Naku Koro Ni and Shadow Star Narutaru by springing family unfriendly content in a sugary package. How true is that? I mean, going by the review there's a crossdresser, but that hardly crosses the line as far as anime goes.

I'd say it was a myth you heard. Cross dressing aside, anything that could have more adult implications is toned down for the sake of being family friendly. It's dodgy with controversial subjects like incest and age appropriate relationships (I suppose Ikuto counts as a a bit of a pedophile when considering age), but it never crosses any lines that could put it on a level of Higurashi and Narutaru. There is no bloody violence or absolutely adult themes. It's all kid safe, with those few small adult jokes that are meant to over a child's head.
It's about as unfamily friendly as Cardcaptor Sakura.

I like Ikuto. He must win Amu! Tadase bothers me with his girly-prissy-princey-ness.
