I wonder what kind of "user surveys" they are talking about. I doubt it is possible to get a good random sample of everyone who has voluntarily watched more than ten hours of anime, for example. Has anyone here ever filled out and sent back those cards that are sometimes included with DVDs?
Nonetheless, as long as they don't decide to drop the Japanese audio track and English subtitles, I will have no complaints on the sub/dub issue. |

Funi- you guys are my hero! I, too, will be supporting you. But I support you even more if you give us some info on the release date of Hellsing Ultimate vol 5. And speaking of dubs, they better be continuing with the same cast. (Yes, I know Funi is not in control of this, but still..)

They may be talking about the surveys they run on their site every now and then. Then again, most of the traffic to their site may be those who prefer dubs anyway. |

The data comes from the survey cards found inside all FUNimation DVDs. This data comes from people who purchased anime. Your Friendly Neighborhoor FUNimation Guy Lance |

It feels so good that those survey cards are read and taken into account! I still wanna win a dvd, though.
I love dubs, and I love the way Funi does dubs. I also want to applaud Funi's adaptation of every new technology available to them. You guys rock! Now who is Aaron D gonna voice? My bets on Ling... |

I've been trying to figure out the last few months what to do with my survey cards. I'm getting enough of them you could almost use them as wall paper . That said, I hope you are also talking about the survey's that use to be given out for the Operation Anime disks. While we were told last disk Funimation no longer was collecting those, I did have fun filling them out over the last few years at my local club .

It should be noted though that the ratio of dub watchers versus sub watchers is heavily dependant on how mainstream the series in question is. Something with a great deal of TV exposure like Dragonball Z or Yu Yu Hakusho will naturally have a vast majority of dub watchers, whereas a more niche series like Spice and Wolf or Big Windup is likely to have a more evenly balanced audience or even a mostly sub watching audience. As Funimation is basing these figures on the sumtotal of the survey cards they received, the results will undoubtedly be influenced by their top selling releases like DBZ, FMA and Afro Samurai, which have a great majority of fans that prefer dubs. If I were Funimation, I wouldn't reject the idea of sub-only releases for especially niche stuff just yet. Funimation has the luxury of having a good number of strong selling titles, so they can afford to take a loss on certain less popular titles, but for things that are practically guaranteed to sell poorly (Big Windup) I don't see the point in taking the risk of producing a dub. |

Maxey Whitehead as Alphonse Elric
I called it! I knew it was going to happen, since I heard the commentary track for Romeo x Juliet. Awesome! |

An entry over at Funimation's blog mentions that FMA: Brotherhood is going to be released this coming Spring. I haven't seen this bit of news anywhere here at ANN, so I thought I'd share it with you. While that's still at least six months away, I'm glad it finally got a DVD release announced, as I vastly prefer DVDs to streams or downloads.
